LOVING MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER
Dorothy E. Pritoka Lazan, 72 of Girard, died unexpectedly on Monday May 12, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center.
She was born February 9, 1936 in Glassport, Pa., a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Lucas Pritoka.
Dorothy graduated from the Conneautville High School in 1953 and later worked at General Telephone Co. as a Secretary in the personel office before leaving to raise her family. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard where she was active in the church choir, the Holy Spirit Auxiliary and Chair of one of the funeral luncheon committees. She was also actively involved in the St. John's School PTO and Twins' Mothers Club. She enjoyed bowling at Westway Lanes with the "Love Birds" and also enjoyed baking and sharing her creations with her family and friends. Dorothy always lived life to the fullest by enjoying activities focused around her family and friends. She was always a wonderful example both as a wife and mother. She will also be remembered for her generosity and kind heart as she touched the lives of all those that she met.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John E. Lazan, whom she married June 28, 1958 in Crossingville, also by an infant daughter Patricia A. Lazan; brothers Robert and Donald Pritoka; a sister in law Sue Pritoka and brother in law Robert Santos. She is survived by a daughter Marie A. Vereb and her husband Michael;
four sons Charles J. Lazan and his wife Linda,
James M. Lazan and his wife Lee Ann,
Donald W. Lazan
and Ronald W. Lazan;
two sisters Margaret I. Santos of Edinboro,
Ruth A. Kuligowski and her husband Joseph of Erie;
a sister in law Virginia Rahdert of Durham, N.C.; a brother in law Al Lazan of Erie; five grandchildren Ryan Lazan, Natalie Lazan, Nathan Lazan, Michael John Vereb, Emilee Grace Vereb and several nieces and nephews. Dorothys'
family would like to express their thanks to all of Mom's care givers over the past four years, especially her daily care givers, Cindy Wells and Katie Hamilton. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-5p.m. and 7-9p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A prayer service will be held there on Friday at 9:30a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard at 10a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
