I am at a long fought brick wall. I know that my Layton ancestors came from South Carolina according to the census on my gggrandfather in 1850, but I can't get back farther and can find no one that can help. I have gotten some help but I cant match anything I have been told to what I have. I am looking for the parents of Jonathan Layton, born in1814 in South Carolina. He was married to Ruth(no last name known) They were in the census in Cass County Georgia in 1850 and that is the fartherist I have been able to track them and then he is not in the census in 1860, only Ruth and children. There were several children, Malissa, Anne, Ruth, Adaline, Joshua, and my greatgrandfather James W. Layton, I do not know what the W stands for. I would would appreciate any help you may can give me. I know this is a long shot. The Layton side of my family is very hard to track. I plan on going to Georgia in a few months and do some physical looking around the towns of Summerville and Chattooga county.
Thank you for all you can help me with.
