Hello,
I suspect a few wires have got crossed in this thread. My Laytons go back to an Abraham, who married in 1627 in Lyng, near Norwich in Norfolk (UK), and died there in 1675. We have a pretty complete documented family tree of his descendants and BigY (FTDNA) tests reveal that our present terminal SNP is I-Y7426, a thus far 'unique' branch of I-CTS6433, way down the line from I-M223 (I2a2a) and haplogroup I-M170. This is completely different from haplogroup R1b, and we have not yet found any American Laytons of our haplogroup, other than a relatively recent immigrant in Texas (who belongs to our family tree) and a Brown descended from a known illegitimate birth in 1803.
If you know of any Laytons in haplogroup I2a2a I would much appreciate contact details.
