I am researching my mother's family who appear to be descended from either the de Leyburn family of northern England (Westmoreland, North Yorkshire and district) or the de Laybourne family of Kent. Of course these may well be branches of the same Norman clan.
There are plenty of names up to about 1600, but I haven't yet made the connection to my GGF Henry Tudor Burne and his sons (I think) Alfred Bodycote Burne and Sir Owen Tudor Burne.
The latter was a British civil servant who apparently wrote a family history linking the (Tudor) Burne name to the Norman names. He also wrote an account of the first two Viceroys of India "Clyde and Strathnairn" two copies of which are in the State Library of South Australia.
Any information on Henry Tudor Burne would be appreciated.
