OK. I am at what seems to be a dead end on the LAY family. Maybe someone could possibly help me out.
I am looking for information on my Great-Grandfather:
George Washington LAY b. 1886 Campbell Co., TN d. 1973 Campbell Co., TN. He married Ida B. MORGAN 12/29/1907 in Whitley Co., KY. Ida b. 1892 d. 1943. George and Ida’s daughter was Rosetta LAY (m. Luther BLANKENSHIP). Rosetta and Luther were my grandparents. Their dau. Is my mom, Wanda Jean BLANKENSHIP (m. Larry Eugene BAKER). I am their son Brandan Le Brackenridge BAKER.
Other children of George and Ida (MORGAN) LAY, besides my grandmother Rosetta LAY are:
Arliss LAY (m. Gertrude JOHNSON), Bill LAY (m. Catherine “??”), Ella “Jean” LAY (m. Junior McCOY), Truman LAY (m. Bonnie CLAYTON), Goman LAY (m. Ada WILLIAMS), Earnest James LAY (m. Jean JONES), Violet LAY (m. Osie CRISCILLIES), Lawrance LAY (m. Pearl STRUNK), Linda LAY (m. Ledford JONES), & Venice LAY ….. If anyone has any corrections/additions/etc./etc. to this family please let me know as I did not know them.
I am interested in ANY info on this George Washington LAY such as his siblings and their families, his kids extended families, AND his parents, etc. It’s speculation, but I’ve heard George’s dad might be a James F. LAY son of Jesse and Connie (LAY) LAY. This James F. may have married Martha GRAY (Martha may have also married James HATFIELD). The only “for sure” sibling I know of for George W. LAY is Ken LAY as it was mentioned in George’s Obituary from the LaFollette (TN) Press Newspaper, Obit. dated 1/3/1974.
Surnames (maternally) I’m researching are: BLANKENSHIP, BAIRD, LAY, MORGAN, STANFILL, STEPHENS, TRAMMELL.
Any help at all would be so grateful!!!!
Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing from you….
