I too am part Lawson. My granny was Zonie Mae Lawson, born 1900. She married Harlon Morgan. They lived in Heagar when my dad was growing up. My dad told me he thought we were part indian. I think in doing my research that there may be a Nancy that married a Lawson. Do you know any of the people I have mentioned.

Zonie or Zona Mae Lawson from Alabama

She is my grannyb.1900 m. Harlon Morgan. Her fathers name was William C Lawson.b.1869 siblings are Lula Mae, Clarence, Jesse, and Leola. Im not sure but I think there was also a sister named Nora Mae. She was not listed in the 1910 cences so she and Leola may be the same person. Her mother was listed only as Sarah Lawson no maiden name. I have not been able to find anyone past William C Lawson. My daddy didn't even no his name. So I don't think that the family spoke of them much. I know that Lula lived in Chattanooga (or nearby) Tennessee in the mid to early 1960's. My Granny and Nora Mae lived in Chattanooga also at that time. If anybody knows them would you please reply.

Hi there, I am Wilma Bray Gregory. Nancy would have been my GG Grandmother. I have heard in the past a time or two that there was Cherokee in the Lawson side of our family. Have never really seen anything documenting it. I sent an e-mail to someone that had written a story on the Lawsons stating that there was Cherokee. I asked them where the information had come from? Have not received a reply yet. Will contact you when I do. Until then, Happy Hunting, Wilma

Charlie's father was James Lawson (1864-1924). I do not know who James's father is at this point.

Re: Lawson Family Murder's

There was a better book written by the same author Trudy Smith. You can buy her book at her website themeaningofourtears.com

I don't know how accurate any of the books are, or the movies that have come out about the family. I haven't read them, and I have rented the documentary "Christmas Family Tragedy" which I am hoping to have time away from my toddlers to see it.

I am trying to find the connection of my mother-n-law's family to the Lawson's. My Mother-n-law's mother kept an old scrapbook that I was recently going through and it had a ton of photos, and no names. I came across a photo in the back of the book which looked like a room that had been ransacked and there was blood everywhere and even in the baby's crib. There was another photo with it on the same page with 6 coffins ranging in size. I knew looking at the photos that there was a murder in that room. I looked up on the internet a search for family murder 1920's. There it was the Charlie Lawson Massacre.

Why would my husband's grandmother have these photos? Was she related, was my husband's grandfather related? I was able to identify it was Charlie Lawson through a family photo that was on the website and the same one being in this scrapbook I now have in my hands. Charlie Lawson had his family take this photo just days before he murdered them, all but the oldest child, his son "Arthur". I guess Arthur had been at his cousins house when Charlie "broke".

I have a photo of the house, the family, the murder scene and the coffins. Why? What's the connection?

My husband's Grandmother was Jessie (Branch) Brooks and her husband was Charlie Louis Brooks, Sr. They were from Siler City, NC. Chatham County. The Brooks and Branch families were native to NC, Most in High Point (birth place of my oldest son who is now 3). I am trying to help my husband find out more about his family, and we haven't come across the Lawson's in our search, so I am wondering if maybe they are family or friends.

Anyone with any clue as to the connection, either respond here or email me please.

Julie

Re: Lawsons of Patrick Co. Va

I am curious if anyone familiar with Patrick Co. VA has any information on the following:
1. What happened to Susannah Lawson (wife of Bartholomew Lawson) who shows up in the census data in the range of 1795 to 1800? Supposition is that she died about 1830 in Patrick Co.
2. I am descended from Elisha Lawson and Mary Lawson (married in 1801 in Patrick with Joshua Lawson providing surety). Any information about Mary's family as I am at a dead end?
3. I am a Falling River Lawson via DNA test and the Elisha above is thought to be the 'Lisha' Lawson, son of Bartholomew/Susannah Lawson. The follow-up census data in Stokes/Surry NC may indicate an age discrepancy for him but may not be significant. Any data from records there to suggest differently?
4. Any information on Mary Lawson after Elisha died in NC in 1833? Supposition is that she may have gone back to Patrick Co?
5. In the census data for Patrick in 1795, there is a listing of a William (Boney) Lawson. Any suggestion that this could be a nickname for William 'Bartholomew' Lawson? He is listed near Susannah Lawson and there is some mentions of a 'Bartholomew' Lawson in other record listings (associated with Susannah), thus maybe a middle name for William and not another son??

I am familiar with Carl Lawson's research and have talked to him. Any new data or directions would be appreciated!!

Charlie H Lawson was in Patrick Co. VA in censues 1900, 1910 and 1930. I have details of these plus others earlier ones that I think relate to the same family.

There is a James A Lawson also in 1880 with his mother and I have further details in my Lawson One Name Study. Have a look at www.yorksgen.co.uk/forums/portal.php for details. You are asked to register then post what information you have in the US Lawson Forums. I will gladly expand what I have for you.

Walsall England Lawsons

I am looking for information on a Lawson family that were living in Toronto Ontario Canada in the early 1900's. They came over from Walsall, England sometime after 1902. The father was William, his wife was Edith Lillian (nee Davies). They had five children, Evelyn May that married a William Wilshaw, Eliza Jane that married a Arthur Howard Phillips, William Cyril that married an Agnes Simpson, Joseph Edward that married a Gladys Ellerby, and Winnifred (Winifred) Lilian (Lillian)that married a George Haacke in 1919.
Edith Lillian died in 1933, her husband William was listed as the informant on her death certificate.
George Haacke and Winnifred Lawson were my grandparents. they had 9 children, the first 3 including a set of twins died soon after birth. My father was the seventh child and was born in 1929. The youngest was born about 1933. Winnifred (Winnie) left the family in 1934. The youngest 5 children spent time in an orphanage, and were later returned home to be raised by their father and a step-mother. Gossip is George and Winnie divorced, she moved to Buffalo, New York remarried and had more children. George Haacke passed away in 1956 and any secrets went with him.
My father had no memories of his mother and didn't know her name until I became interested in genealogy. He passed away in 2001 never knowing what had happened to his mother. I'm still trying to find out, any information would be appreciated.
Pat
As of this date, I know nothing of the Lawsons in Partick Co except that my earliest known ancestor, David Lawson, b 1803 NC/TN is most likely related to one of them. Our DNA tests match with 5 of the Hooker families in Patrick, Henry Co, found there in the mid to late 1700s. The earliest record of our David is 1830 census Scott Co Va. The DNA tests also show our Lawson Haplogroup as Q for Native American. I'd be interested to know as well, if anyone has any info on the Lawsons of Patrick Co. Janet
