I have traced my Lawrence line back to my ggggrandfather and now have perplexing problem. My ggrandfather was Thomas Jefferson Lawrence, b 1828 in SC. He married Dorinda Freeze, b 1830, AL, daughter of Jacob Freeze and Martha Tatum Freeze, both b late 1700's in NC. Thomas and Dorinda eventually settled in Mansfield, DeSoto Parish, LA.
Greene Lawrence, b 1802 NC or SC,who m Susannah Morris, b ? in Rutherford Co., NC. were parents of Thomas Jefferson.
James Lawrence, b 17??, VA, m Frances _____, b ?, VA, were parents of Greene. Other siblings of Greene included Euphemia, Susannah, Claiborne, John, Washington, Sally (or Sarah), and Richard.
Does anyone have any information about James and his wife, Frances____? and their ancestry?

Also researching the same family. I am a descendent through Catherine Lawrence, daughter of Green and Susannah, who married Oakley Brown. I am having a rough time trying to document Green on census records. I have him in Union Co, SC in 1840 with:

1 males 10-15
1 male 40-50
1 female under 5
1 female 5-10
1 female 10-15
1 female 20-30

I haven't found him at all in 1850, but in 1860, I found what appears to be the family in Tallapoosa Co, AL with the following:

Green Lawrence age 59 b. SC
Susanna age 49 b. NC
Jane 20 SC
Agnes 19 SC
Marion 15 SC

Info I have recieved shows that he died 25 Sept 1871 in Marion Co, TX. Does anyone know where he's buried? What about Susannah? Did she make it to TX with him?

Does anyone have a transcription of James Lawrence's will?

I saw your reply to an old message of mine about the family of Greene and Susannah Lawrence in AL. You mentioned that you descend from their daughter, Catherine. I am a descendant of their son, Thomas Jefferson Lawrence.
