April 23, 1772:
Notice is hereby given to the public, that Eleanor, my wife, hath at sundry times eloped from me, and on or about the 24th of August, 1769. she took her passage from Philadelphia, on board the ship Philadelphia, Captain James Malcom, bound for Cork, at which port she landed. Since which time I understand she is cometo some part of America. I therefore do forewarn all persons whatsoever, not to trust the said Eleanor on my account, for I will not pay any debt of debts that she may contract, from the date hereof. As witness my hand, this 13th day of April, 1772.

I am not related to this family, I am just passing on this information, which comes from a book titled "Runaway Women, Elopements And Other Miscreant Deeds, As Advertised In The Pennsylvania Gazette - 1728 -1789. (together with a few abused wives and unfortunate children)." Compiled by Judith Ann Highley Meier. Published by Closson Press. 1993. Page 63.
