Recently I looked into my Grandmother's line. She was Elizabeth Allen nee Brockhouse. Her Grandfather was a William Brockhouse who married a Hannah Law born 1804 in Tipton near Sedgley. (I live in Sedgley) her parents were Charles Law born 1784 and Philliss Dudley born 1784. Hannah had a brother Charles born 1808. Her father Charles's parents were John Law born
1758 and Sophia born 1862. Charles siblings were John born 1786, Joseph born 1788. They go back further in Sedgley. At the bottom of the lane where I live is a farm called Spout House Farm. The Laws were farmers and landowners and owned this farm at one time even in the 1800's. They gave the land for the first Catholic chapel, St Georges, to be built in Sedgley - a forerunner to the Catholic Church now at the top of Catholic Lane. The chapel was at Sandyfields. You will find them going back to when records began in the 1500's at the Parish Church. Although they were by all accounts strong Catholics they had no choice but to use the Parish Church for births marriages and deaths even though they refused - so I have read, to attend other church services. You can find pictures of Spout House farm on several Sedgley History websites. I believe some of the people I have mentioned had other siblings and quite a few people are researching the Laws of Sedgley.
