I received some of my family history from a lady in Vermont. I have found info on my gr.grandfather - Apollinaire Lavallee and my gr gr grandfather Andrew Lavallee. My mom also told me we are related to the Paquet & Pelletier family which I noticed in some of your info.

I am looking forward to finding out how I am related to Calixa Lavallee. As well my brother tells us that we are related to Francois Xavier Lavallee, who is he to you?

No, I am not related...just wanted to help.

Was she married prior? Tried to find another marriage certificate in same church but maybe didn't look hard enough. Since she carried the Robertson name I wasn't sure.

And you are correct...it is half the fun trying to always unlock one more generation.

Did you have her father and mother by any chance? Notice that there was a child under the Lavallee name that died in Sherbrooke and her father, who was deceased at the time was a Peter Lavallee...and he appeared to have a brother named Thomas who was the witness. Wondered if that could be the Peter and Thomas in the other records you to which you were referring. Probably not, but worth mentioning just in case.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have found those wonderful records. It is unfortunate that the families involved used the same given names over and over again.
Trying to sort out who is who is a challenge but I am very grateful to have found any of my family. They have been very elusive for many years. One question answered leaves many more unanswered but isn't that half the fun?

1970 - worked at the Piccadily Beauty Salon as a hairdresser. She lived at 217 Ethelbert Street.

1971 - worked at the Piccadily Beauty Salon as a hairdresser. She lived at 523 Bedson Street.

1972 - worked at the Mona Lisa Hair Styling as a hairdresser. She lived at 317 Vaughn Street.

1973 - worked at Clara's Hair Styling as a hairdresser. She lived at 396 Provencher Blvd. # 3. The owner of Clara's Hair Styling was Mrs. Clara Gregoire.

It states that in 1974 she also worked at Clara's Hair Salon, however after that there is no more listings for Shirley Lavallee. She either moved or got married.

Hi Shirley. I doubt that you will remember me because I was just a little squirt who ran around playing with Mauricy when you were already all grown up. My dad Jack Lavallee and my mom Claire used to bring me to visit your dad and mom in the summer when I was young. The last I heard about your family was from Ted Lavallee, Frank and Margot's son who told me that Maurice Jr. had become a forest ranger.

In my research, I did come across a confirmation of a Maurice Lavallee in St. Mary's Catholic Church, (Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada).

I would appreciate any assistance with the search for information regarding Rachel. I found an entry for her in the Collection Canada site and it states that she had a marriage bond with Peter LeGallee in Quebec 1836
Then I found a marriage with John Lenfestey and it was stated that she was the widow of Thomas LeGallee in Quebec 1839.
I found Rachel living with John Sr. Lenfestey in the 1851 census for Quebec and my Grandfather Frederick and his brother William LeGallee are both living with this family. There is also a Susan Lenfestey that is not a member of the family of course this means she is not a daughter.
and a Susan Toom(n?)er.
I am trying to decipher exactly which of the LeGallee's she married is my GG Grandfather. I have been searching for a very long time! I can't find a marriage date for Thomas and Rachel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is an odd deal. My name is Karen Gamache, (sound familiar?) and I have a great great grandmother named Angelique Vallee/Lavallee/Levallee. Her father was Antione La Vallee and her mother was Susanne Lefebrve and they came from Fort Edmonton NWT in the early 1800's. I have very little information on this line. Angelique married twice. First to Louis Le Blanc and them to Basile Hebert.

Odds are they are just a concendence but you never know. If you want more infor feel free to contact me.

By the way the name is a dit name in our family ours should have been Mayota but my grandfather took the name of his stepfather.

SANFORD - Florence L. 'Lenore” Lavallee, 95, of Sanford, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 at her home.

Lenore, as she was know by many, was born on March 2, 1909 in Sanford. She was the daughter of George and Florence Moss McHugh. She attended local schools, and for a short period of time worked at the Goodall textile mills of Sanford as a weaver.

Lenore was an avid Red Sox fan, and had here dream come true as the Sox won a World Series this past year. She enjoyed crafting, playing cards with her family, and doing the daily Jumble word puzzle. Her grandchildren were her inspiration, and love of her life. In the summer Lenore would wait with great anticipation for the bounty of fresh vegetables that would come from her son-in-law's garden.

Predeceasing Lenore was her husband, Charles; a daughter, Beverly Garland; two brothers, George and Frank McHugh; and two sisters, Gladys McHugh and Maybell Tibbetts.

Surviving is a daughter, Ann Foley and her husband Timothy of Sanford; a son, Thomas; a sister, Shirley Warren of Scarborough; seven grandchildren; eight great-grand- children; two great-great-grand- children, and several nieces and nephews.

On Tuesday, Jan. 25, friends are invited to share in a period of visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St. Sanford, where an 11 a.m. funeral service will take place.

I am trying to tie in my great-grandfather, Joseph Lavallee, born Oct 1862 (per 1900 U.S. Census). He was born in Canada and lived in Southbridge, Mass., with his 2nd wife, Soufrini Tromley, where my grandmother, Marie Lavallee, was born in 1890. Joseph was married before and had a son named Paul who was born on 22 Sep 1884. I found a reference on lds.org to a Joseph Celestin Lavallee born 2 Oct 1862 in Portneuf, Quebec, whose parents were Felix Lavallee and Marie Anne Gaudin (Godin). I also found family trees on ancestry.com showing many children born to Felix and Marie Anne, one named Joseph born in 1851, but no Joseph Celestin born in 1862. So I'm not sure whether the information on lds.org is correct or not.

I am from a LAVALLADE family.
As far as I know the names you talk about are related to the word "Valley" ("Vallée" in french, "Valade" or "Vallade" in local langage). Thus, one of the ancestors came from a valley.
These names are to be found mainly in the south west of France, mainly in what we call the Charente area or the Haute-Vienne area.
