I have my line back to early 1600's in Kanton Aargau, Switzerland. Joseph Xaver and John came to Akron in 1865. Roman Catholic. Cousins went to Findlay, Ohio. Protestant cousin Jakob Laube bout the same time came to Richland Township Allen County, Ohio.
And a bit of info on Paul Laube 1750 Bauschewitz, Bohemia >Joseph Nickolaus b: December 6, 1780, Garnsee, lived in Oesnitz Saxony died in Zwickav 1821>Francis b: February 1819 in Oesnitz Roman Catholic came to Us 1837 eventually founded the pittsburgh tribe.
The Rochester Laube tribe may have arrived apit 1850 -
Vitor has a Laube that left Basel, Switzerland for Brazil.
Anyone having information on Laube families in the US or Europe before 1850 please post me a note on this message board or the Rootslist Laub. Or if you descend from one of these sources and want to record that fact.
The lines named above kept that spelling for a generation or two some to the present time, but Laube to some English record keeper might sound like Lauby or Laubie - and I suppose the e could also get dropped.
Regards to all ye seekers of the Truth - tis might hard to find and harder still to know it when you see it. Art
