Harold Laub, Gas Concern Founder, Dies
Las Vegas. Funeral services are scheduled Tuesday for Harold G. Laub, founder of Southwest Gas Corporation.
Laub, 66, died Saturday night of a heart attack. He was stricken at home.
Laub helped to engineer construction of a pipeline that took natural gas from Texas to southern California.
In 1931, he founded Southwest, which in 1954 brought natural gas into Southern Nevada. The firm ran a pipeline into Northern Nevada from Idaho in 1961 and 1962.
Laub, a long-time Las Vegas resident, was active in community affairs. He was a member of the advisory committee to Nevada Southern University and past chairman of the Clark County United Fund.
Survivors include his widow, Julia; a son, William M. Laub, and five grandchildren.
