Iowa -- Duane E. Latta, 76, Muscatine, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at his home.
The Rev. Brian
Shepley will officiate the services. Musical selections will be provided by Deb
Mohr, organist. Casket bearers are Ron
Latta, Byron

Marty Mellecker, Jeff
Thoma, Bob Yotty and Chad
Latta. Honorary casket bearers are

Latta, Nathan
Latta and Kim
Ordway. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery,
Wilton.
Memorial contributions be made to the Special Olympics of
Muscatine County.
Mr. Latta was born March 7, 1928, in Oakville, the son of O.E. and Erma
Schweitzer Latta. He married Dolores Mellecker Oct. 16, 1948, in
Davenport.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in
Alaska. After returning home in 1953, he operated a water well business in Riverside with his father and brothers.
In 1978, he moved to
Wilton and started another water well business with his wife and two sons. That business,
Latta Well &
Pump, is still in operation today. He retired in 1990 and enjoyed woodworking and his home on the river.
He was a past president of
Iowa Water Well Association and a member of
Wilton Masonic
Lodge No. 167. He was an honorary member of the
Iowa Ground Water Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, DuAnn
Ordway and husband Kenneth of Wilton; two sons, Mark
Latta and wife Marie and Kirk
Latta and wife Kim, all of Wilton; two brothers, Don
Latta of Riverside and Ron
Latta of Hills; three granddaughters
Brook Latta, Jordan
Latta and Kim Ordway; three grandsons, Chad,
Zane and Nathan Latta; and a great-granddaughter,
Tami Latta.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
