Hello,

I am trying to discover any information regarding two Lathrop ancestors. The first, Charlotte Lathrop, was born 15 June, 1795 in Franklin, Otsego Co., NY. According to the source I have, her parents were Zephaniah and Esther Wyborne Lathrop.

Charlotte was married to David Gardiner Porter in Cicero, Onandaga Co., NY, on 22 February, 1814. Apparently the couple relocated several times between 1816 and 1835, as is evidenced by the birthplaces of their six children during that time. These were born variously at Cicero, Manlius, Onandaga (all in Onandaga Co.) and at Constantia, Oneida Co., New York. Four of them reached maturity, and are known to have had offspring. They are Lucy Ann (m. Alanson Risley), Solomon W., Harvey B. and Thaddeus P. Porter.

Then, sometime in the 1840's, the family moved to Salt Creek, DuPage Co., Illinois. It was also there that David and Charlotte's second son, Harvey B. Porter (b. 14 Oct. 1825, in Onadaga), married one Asenath Lathrop (b. 3 June, 1835, somewhere in New York State) on 17 February, 1851. It was shortly after this that the family moved once again, finally settling in Royalton, Berrien County, Michigan, in the early 1850's. Charlotte Lathrop Porter died there on 24 May, 1873, with her daughter-in-law, Asenath Lathrop Porter following her 17 March, 1912.

Hence, two successive generations of my Porter ancestors married women named Lathrop, who were almost certainly related. However, I have been unable to find their kinship, or even any of their forbears, other than what I have outlined above. Please tell me if you have any information regarding them or any hints as to where I might search for such. I've looked all over the internet and at many sources related to Rev. John Lathrop, but have not yet been able to establish any links. Anything that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your time,
Aldo

P.S. I believe Asenath's mother's maiden name was Allen, as that is what her death record states. However, I know the first names of neither her father nor her mother, so that is all I have.
