I am in search of information regarding the history of my father's family name. I believe that my grandfather, Ramon Laracuente-Zapata, was born in Puerto Rico. He was a professor. My grandmother was Paula Torres born in Humaco, PR. She was just 14 years old when my father, Ricarte Torres, was born. At that time, my grandfather moved to Santo Domingo. My father did not carry his father's last name. My grandfather had three older children before my father was born. There names are Roger Laracuente, Pedro Laracuente and AnaCaona Laracuente all born in Cabo Rojo. My grandfather also had several other children in Santo Domingo. I received a reply from my original posted message back in 2001 with information that Benjamin Laracuente was the oldest of what could be my grandfather's children from Santo Domingo. However, I was unable to reply back until Jan. 2002 due to a medical condition. I would like really like to hear more about this surname history. It has been three years since the past of my father. My father was a great man with lots of pride. I'm sure that he had his reasons for not talking much about his father and siblings and we respected him for that. But I am still very much interrested in finding more information about the "Laracuente" surname.
