I am verry pleased to have contakt with the family afther 91 years since the first Laquiere went to the USA.
My father told me several times about his 2 uncles who left Belgium in the year 1920.
I am trying to make a CD rom with foto's and information, but it will take some time. I do need a helping hand of my daughter and son, to scan all pictures.
Nice to meet Debra and i do hope some of the relatives come to Belgium in time....

When she told me she was looking into this I was very excited and intersested in exploring my family heritage. My grandfather always told us stories and shared with us his youth in Belguim. He always told us it was a beautiful place which some day I hope to visit. Please keep in contact with my sister and I so we can continue to build and research our family background.

I do remember a familymember of my grandfathers side, aunti Lucie, and she lived in France.
But i have a lot of information i will share by email.
I will try to find back the family of Lucie Laquiere because there are Laquiere's living even in Quebec, and i don't knox if they are related.

Hi my name is Pamela Wittstock and my mother was Rachael Mary Ann Laquiere and her father was julien laquiere and Camille was his father....He had 4 children Rachael, Julian. Godleze, and Richard all are deceased except Godeleze....Rachael had 4 daughters Pamela Joanne Sandra and Debra....Julian had 3 children Patricia Bill, and Teri...Godeleize had 3 children Michael Michelle and Marie. and Richard adopted one child Lance...We all live in Michigan in the Detroit suburbs....I have been to Paris before it is so beautiful...If you need any more info or would like to exchange pictures let me know....

Mary(Maiden name Deprest) was married with Remi Laquiere (the brother of my grandfather)
They came to USA in 1920 with the SS kroonland and 2 children
Alice (married Hall) and Rose. I have no information of Rose. Alice was a well known accordionist.
Later they had a son Roger born 1920 died 1941
They settled near Lansing Michigan where Remi opened a beer garden.
Remi was my grandfathers brother (Joseph Laquiere)
Also Camiel Laquiere left of USA the same year 1920.
Also his 2 sons are well known accordionists, and eventually opened a music store.

You must be a familymember of Julian, Rachel or Richard Laquiere.
Your grandfather was Julien b. Juin 21, 1909 d. Mar 3, 1994 and married with Margaret (maiden name unknown)
Julien Laquiere your grandfather was a son of Camiel Laquiere and his wife was Eudoxie Febronie (maiden name VanDerBrugghe)
Camiel Laquiere who came to USA in 1920 was the brother of my own grandfather, Joseph Laquiere who staid in Belgium.
There was another brother Remi Laquiere came to the USA january 1920 married Mary (Deprest maiden name) who came to the United States in april 1920 with her 2 children Alice and Rose. Alice (Hall) born about 1916 died 2000.
They also later had a son Roger born 1920 died 1941
Remi's family eventually settled near Lansing Michigan.
My name is Dorine Laquiere, a granddaughter of Joseph Laquiere.
From the 10 children of Joseph there are 3 female members alive between 85 and 90 years old.
Bertha Laquiere , Elza Laquiere and Paula
Laquiere.
My parents died but we have many cossins and nices.

If your mother was MaryAnn (Di Falco) deceased Juli 4th 2002
and your grandfather was Julien Laquiere, wife Margaret,
than your great grandfather was Camiel Laquiere married with Eudoxie Febronie (maiden name VanDer Brugghe) than you are family of me.
Camiel was a brother of my grandfather Joseph Laquiere who stayed in Belgium when 2 brothers left for the USA about 1920 on the SS Kroonland, Camiel and Remi.

My grandfather Joseph Laquiere have 10 children, and i am the youngest of his son Andre Laquiere. My father married Elisabeth Lecluyse , and the got 3 daughters : Lydia Laquiere, Gisele Laquiere and me Dorine Laquiere;

Lydia Laquiere married (Verheye) and has 1 son Francis Verheye who has 1 daughter Lisa Verheye (11year)
Gisele Married Vanderbrugghen
1 daughter Sabine Vanderbrugghen (married Penez) and has 1 son Pieter Jan Penez (22 and single)
1 son Nick Vanderbrugghen married and has 1 daughter Ine Vanderbrugghen married and has 1 child Emma.
Emma is the 6th generation of Laquiere Joseph
Dorine Laquiere (myself) Married (Bossuyt) and have 2 children, Regis Bossuyt 17 year and Axelle bossuyt 16 year.
We live in a small town called Bossuit in the region West Vlaanderen in Belgium.

They came tho usa in 1920 i think.
The last letter we receved was from 1958 from detroit.
One of the son's died verry young, Roger was his name.
They have 2 children, Alice (Hall) and Rose.
From Rose we never receved news.
The famely name wa Hall on the letter.
I receved a lot of information from Janice Laquiere
So Camiel had 4 children: Godelieve Julien and Jules an Joseph (name of my grandfather)
Send my some news from far away, we are still interested in our family and hope some will come to their roods.

Pam, Yes I do remember you too. I did have the playhouse and we lived on Neff Rd. one street over from your Grandmother and Grandfather. Grandmother Fabernie live next door to us, and Jules who never married live at home with
her. She died around 1955 and Jules in 1968. Joe died a few years ago.
My sister Mary loved your mother and always talked well of her. They were good friends. Mary died in 1992.
Would you like to exchange info on our familys, along with pictures?
I was sorry to hear about Richard. He was a year younger than me and we got along good. What was his cause of death?
I have a question about your Aunt Rachel. She was married I believe to Pat Trombley. The name Trombley runs deep on my fathers side of the family. His mothers maiden name was Trombley and she was french and lived in Grosse Pointe. I wondered if your Trombley might be connected to our family.

My grandfather and his family came to Michigan from Belgium
in 1920. They came from Meulebeke. His name was Camile and
I found out he left a large family back in Belgium. My grandmother was a Vanderbrugghe and ran a Candy store in Belgium before the war. Chris

Hi my grandfather Julius Laquiere was born in Melabeke Belgium on June 21,1909...I remember him telling me that his father owned a store there....He had 2 younger brothers Joseph and Julesand a sister named godelize...His mothers name was Fabrane...I know when they first moved here they worked on the sugar beet farms in Ohio....Then moved to michigan

Hi,

Have some DePriest and Laquire in my researching of my own line.
Milly Moore in the 1850 census had a Nancy Laguire(Laquire) living with her. She also had a child I believe that married a DePriest family and William C. DePriest lived next door.
The 1850 census is from Rutherford N.C.

I wondered if you had any info on these lines?

I have a MaryAnn Moore that married a Joseph (Selby,Silver,Silvey,Selvey,Selvea)
I think Milly Moore is her Mother. The DePriest Family lived with MaryAnn next door to Milly who had Nancy Laguire with her.

Can anyone straighten this out.

My paternal grandfather's last name is Deprest.
He was born in Meulebeke, Belgium in 1898. His
father came to U.S. in 1912 and the rest of the
family came over between 1913-15. The surname
is now Duprest due to a clerical error on my
great-grandfather's WW I enlistment papers.I
would like to exchange information on the Deprest
line. I have very limited information but would
like to share what I have to see if we are dealing

Dear Marilyn,

My name is Bert Deprest and I am the son of Georges Deprest from Meulebeke. He died last year in may. He had one brother called Albert, who died in 1955 a couple of months before I was born. That's the reason why my parents called me Albert. My fathers' sisters José ( living in Knokke ) and Guislaine ( living in Merelbeke ) are still alive.
My grandfather was called Ernest ( tailor in Meulebeke ) and had a brother who was called Medard ( maybe your husbands' grandfather ).

I am living in Gent ( about 50 km from Meulebeke ), am married to Marianne Van Heuverswyn and we have 2 children : Clio and Sam.

My aunt José Deprest ( married to Henri Lietaert, died in the fifties ) has 2 doughters : Chris Lietaert ( living in Poperinge )and Beatrijs Lietaert ( living in Knokke ).

My aunt Guislaine Deprest lived until the death of her husband in the parental home in Meulebeke ( married to Noël Van Houtte, died in +/- 1973 ) and has one daugther : Ingrid Van Houtte ( living in De Pinte - Gent ). She has a daughter named Sarah Van Houtte.

I will ask my mother if she knows any more details and will send them asap.
