Dominick P. Lapa, 86, of Franklin Park, formerly of Butler, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary C. (Zappavigna) Lapa; father of Cathleen Thomas and Concetta (Robert) Slanders; grandfather of Michael Slanders, Jessica Slanders, Rebecca Slanders, Katherine Thomas and Adam Thomas; brother of Chester (Agnes) Lapa, Frank Lapa and Patricia (James) Straub; and brother-in-law of Anthony Maletta. Mr. Lapa graduated in 1941 from Butler High School and then served proudly with the Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He retired in 1981 as Pittsburgh Zone Manager of GMC Truck and Coach Division of General Motors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Alexis Church. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Alexis Capital Campaign, 10090 Old Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090.
