I grew up in Claiborne County TN - just beside Lee County, Va where there is a very very old Langford (Lankford) cemetery. My mom doesn't know that much about their history and I'm trying to help.

My grandfather was Fred Langford son of
Sterl (Sterling) Langford and Lucinda Laws
**Does anyone know why they changed their name here??
Son of Squire (Esquire) Lankford and Rendia Laws
Son (I think) of Thomas Lankford and Minerva Sullivan

**It seems to me that Thomas was born in North Carolina and his father's name was Benjamin, but I'm not sure. Any "farther back" information would be great.
