Lampo Family

I am researching the Lampo family who really originated from Prizzi, Sicily but moved to Corleone in the 1700's. I am related to family in Bryan, Texas but recently found that some of our Lampo family migrated thru New York enroute to Chicago where they raised their families. Let me hear from anyone with this connection. My direct email is fordhou@aol.com

Re: Lampo Surname

I am researching the NY Lampo's. My Lampo family consisted of the following - Augustine Lampo married Catina (or catherina)Compola. They had the following children: Catherine Lampo, Beatrice Lampo, Michael Lampo, Joseph Lampo and Panta Leone "Leo" Lampo. August, Catina, Catherine and Beatrice migrated from Italy to Mononagh, West Virginia where August was a coal miner. They had Michael (1913), Joseph (1915) and Leo (1917) in Monongah. Catina died in 1918 of the spanish flu epidemic. The family moved to Lackawanna Pennsylvania prior to 1920 where August again worked as a coal miner. He then moved the family to Endicott, NY sometime during the 1930's where he worked in the Endicott Johnson Shoe Factories. Any information is appreciated as I would like to go to Italy to do more research, but need to know where to search. Only info I have is from census and it just says Italy. Family rumor says its Reggio Calabria. Thanks -- Cheryl

Pete-

I have a little bit of information on some Lampos that goes back prior to 1917 but I don't have a Georgio. Did you ever make the connection between the Louisiana Lampos and the Texas Lampos?
Re: LAMPO INFO

I stumbled by accident on your query about the LAMPO’s. If I’m not mistaken are you a daughter of Joseph Lampo, my nephew. I am the son of Petrus Paulus Lampo, the youngest child of Johanna Sabina Cammaert, second wife of Johannes Jacobus Lampo.
Johanna Sabina Cammaert had 11 children; three of them didn’t survive their birth.
The first wife of Johannes Jacobus Lampo, Pauline de Rooij, had 8 children, of which 2 didn’t survive birth.
Of the 14 children who survived childhood, 5 came to the US:
Jacobus Johannes Hendrikus
Cornelis Alphonsus Jacobus
Bernardus Anthonius
Eduard Marinus (who died in France Sept. 3rd 1917 as US soldier, I don’t know where)
and Alphonsus Bernardus

I could go in more detail but I don’t know what you want. I am preparing a Family tree and I have already a lot of information. The program I’m using has the possibility to export data in the GEDCOM format.
You can contact me via email Johannes.Lampo@pandora.be
