Hello, Jon Radcliffe. I see it's been 12 years since you posted your message, so I don't know if this will reach you. I just came across your message. I knew your father in about 1963 or so, when he was a lifeguard at the Colony Surf Club beach club in Long Branch, New Jersey. (Monmouth College was about a mile from the beach club, which is long gone.) I was about 16 then, so he was about 26. Anyhow, your father was a very, very nice man. Very handsome, with a rather ideal physique. I just remember times of sitting around talking with him and the other lifeguard, whose name was Marc. I remember that I admired Ivars a lot. And one time when I was in Washington, DC I went to the Viet Nam Memorial wall and found his name on it. I was very sad when I heard he was killed. I wish you could have known him. I'm sure he would have been a wonderful father. I just remember him as a very, very nice guy. Mark Stamaty
