Don't be fooled i've seen the name everywhere so it wouldn't Surprise me.I have family in the states,Aus, Many part of Italy canada and france we also have in England the list goes on it's making the connections thats the problem.. :)

My grandfather was Francesco Santo Spirito, he was born around 1867? He was a sailor and my father told me he jumped ship and lived in Staten Island. He was born on Salina in the aeolian islands. I don't know how many siblings he had. My father would visit his fathers younger brother in Boston and would tell me he was close to 100 when he died. My grandfather was multiple lingual sold fruit from a wagon and drank with Kirk douglas's father the ragman after moving to Amsterdam N Y in the early 1900's. My father said his father had siblings in Australia as well. It's likely we are cousins.

I was wondering if anyone has any information on Domenico LaGreca born in 1834. I have that his parents were Givanni LaGreca and Maria Lagreca.

I have heard from other family members that some LaGrecas went to Australia and others to USA.

I have more names and information and anyone thinks there might be a link.

Santa was actually my mother and your dad (if we have the correct generation), would have been her uncle. Was your grandfather's name Arthur as well? And was your grandmother, Mary? Hi ! My grandfather was Salvatore LaGreca. Never met grandmother but was told her name was Maria.As far as I know both were from Bari, Italy. Think my grandfather came here as an adult. Grandmother passed away and he remarried and they had several children together plus there own.One son from first marraige was named Philip( my Dad).
And two girls also, Julia and Anna. Anyone having info ?

Hello, My Name is John La Greca Son of Antonio La Greca and Madeline Tardi-La Greca. We are all from N.Y. but now reside in Tampa, FL. My farther passed in April of 1985 at age 67. He had brothers and one sister. Named Frank, Joseph, Laura and I'm not to sure of the others. I have 3 other siblings. Anthony, Christine and Luanne write back if you have any info.

Sorry about the confusion I posted under my mother's name - she was a little confused to be getting a "LaGreca" email LOL.

If you had LaGrecas in Philly in the late 1800s/early 1900s then I don't doubt that we're looking at the same family (maybe cousins, but same family). I'm doing this research for my best friend's family... i.e. they would love to have the info but no time to research, etc...

Their LaGrecas stayed in the Philly, PA & Trenton, NJ areas. To this day most of them still live in NJ. I'm throwing a bridal shower tomorrow so I plan on trying to get some "interview time" with the older aunts, cousins, etc... If I find out any concrete ties, I'll let you know.

It seems like Angelo LaGreca could be a reletive. My grandfather John was born in Cannicchio Italy in 1880. He came to America in 1898 and married my grandmother (Anna Pallidino) from the same town in 1906. They settled in Philadelphia where my Dad was born in 1907. Next came my Uncle Angelo who was named after my grandfathers cousin, also from Cannicchio. After Angelo was born they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where we live now.

My grand father had 5 brothers : antoine, Ange, sauveur, Michel, Charles.
he was born in 1888 in the surroundings of Licata (sicilia), one of his brother, Charles went to USA about 1910.

I'm a journalist and I write from Italy, Rome. I was born in 1961. My mother is Sollitto Carmela. She was born in 1932 in Maddaloni, near Napoli and her father, Antonio Sollitto was born in 1904. The first sister of my mother named Maria.One of the brohers of my grandfather Antonio, Giuseppe, emigrated in USA in 1920. The names of his three sons are Luigi, Tommaso and Giuseppe and his wife named Adelina Sollitto. They have also a photo of me and my sister children. Perhaps Giuseppe live in Brookliyn but we don't know exactly where and we haven't his telephon number. Can you help us to search him?

Well, Roger, we are with the same objective.
I know that Our Family has as departure the south of Italy. My Great-grandfather vei of there with my grandfather and we are whole in this search.

Hi! I'm 26 and just starting to get interested in discovering more about my Italian roots. My parents (Roger Joseph LaGreca Anne Rita Santos) live outside of Boston, and I'm relocating to Columbus, OH in February.
Here's what I know so far:
Paternal Grandfather, Frederick Rudolph LaGreca, born in Boston, Mass (1918).
Paternal Great Grandfather, Ornofio LaGreca, born on Lipari in the 1880s. He emmigrated to the US (not sure when, what boat, or what port). He married Maria Santo Spirito of Malfa, Salina, Isole Eolie.
My paternal Great Great Grandfather was Giovanni or Guiuseppe LaGreca.

If anyone has any information about LaGreca's or Santo Spirito, please give me a yell.

My father's name was Anthony La Greca. He was born on Sept.5, 1910. I think his father's name was Frank, not sure though. His mother's name was Angelina, don't know her maiden name. My Dad was one of the people you listed in your post. He was Arthur LaGreca. He grew up in Staten Island and moved to Brooklyn. He passed away in 1970 at 57, he was one of the first to pass away. Your Grandmother Santa was my aunt. The Accardi name rings a bell from many years ago. Stay in touch.

I'm looking for Angelo LaGreca (b abt. 1874 in Italy; d Philadelphia, PA) m Teresa Signorelli (b abt. 1880 in Italy) abt. 1898. Angelo came over abt 1899. Teresa & Rose came over abt 1901? the last digit in the 1930 census is vague at best.

Searching for LaGreca family. My grandfather, Giovanni (John) LaGreca, was from Italy and immigrated in the 1800s - don't know what port or ship. His name was spelled LaGreca, LaGrega & Lagraka on documents. I do know he was an orphan and lived in Brooklyn, NY. In 1899/1900 he married Mary Sollitto and they lived on York Avenue in Brooklyn. They had 8 children. (Anthony LaGreca, William LaGreca, Mary LaGreca, Carmela LaGreca, Vincenza LaGreca, Mamie LaGreca, Alvera LaGreca, Michaelina LaGreca.
