I recently discovered your post and was saddened to learn of the passing of your uncle. He and I met while serving in the Marine Corps @ Camp Lejeune in 1961. At that time Blacks were very few and your uncle was the first caucasian Marine that truly befriended me. After my discharge in 1963, we exchanged a couple of postcards, but eventually lost track of each other. As I recall, you were born during that time, or slightly before we met and he was proud beyond belief that he was an uncle. We took a Spanish class together and served on the same ship during he Cuban missile crisis. I will always have fond memories of him.
