BOARDMAN - Georgia Zidian, 81, who passed away Saturday evening, July 25, 2015, with her family by her side.
She was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Lazarus and Zoe (Nimbriotis) Ladas, and was a lifelong area resident of the Mahoning Valley.
Upon the untimely death of her father, Georgia was raised by her stepfather, Petro Pappas. Georgia was a 1951 graduate of The Rayen School, Youngstown, Ohio.
She was employed with Shinner’s Meats in Boardman and then with Robert Hall Clothing Company as a bookkeeper, and that is where she met the love of her life, Charles J. Zidian Sr. Upon their marriage, Georgia then became matriarch of the family.
In her later years, she was employed at Windhaven House, working alongside her son as a food purchaser from 1985 until 2014.
Georgia was also known by the residents as “Mommy Z” for all the love and care she would show to them.
She was a member of St. Maron Church and its Ladies Guild, along with being a former member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, where she was the choir director for many years. Georgia had many passions and accomplishments throughout her life. She was very artistic and creative and enjoyed crafts, gardening, landscaping her yard and going on vacations with her family.
Georgia was beyond an excellent cook, following her heritage and making all of the delicious Greek and Lebanese dishes.
Georgia loved the holidays, especially having her whole family together.
Her husband, Charles J. Zidian Sr., whom she married Jan. 24, 1959, at St. Maron Church, died Aug. 13, 2004.
She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories, four children, Charles P. Jr. (Donna) Zidian of Boardman, Mark (Richard Fees) Zidian of Boardman, Brian Zidian Sr. of Austintown and Christi (Kristen Sheets) Zidian, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, Chloe, Zachary, Brian Jr. and Eleni; a brother, Chris (Sue) Ladas of Youngstown; a sister, Sia Contos of Akron, Ohio.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents and husband.


There will be a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Maron Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road in Youngstown, Ohio
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., where the Prayers of Incense Prayer Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friends and family may also pay respects on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, from 9 to 9:50 a.m. at St. Maron Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road in Youngstown.

Burial will take place at the Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
