My Lasker family comes from Lithuania and we are unsure of the origin of the name. Through oral history we have heard it was something like:Laskavictiute although on an 1881 england census they were listed as Lascowitch (obviously made "English"). But other birth records show names
completely different!

Surnames I have seen with my family:
Laszkiewicz
Laskowitch
Laskowitz
LAVISK*****
LASKYEJE***
LASKERVITCH

Pius (or Piu) Lasker was born in Lithuania/Poland/Russia in 1842. He married Maria (maybe) Thomasheffsky there and had at least a son named Joseph born in 1872. The family then moved to Liverpool, England where they had John J.
born 1879, Isabella born 1886, Alfred (who was born in Connecticut USA) in 1888, Peter born 1877, Anna born 1876, Anna Susanna born 1881 and Alexander Jacob born 1886.

The family later settled inBrooklyn where they all lived basically till the end of their lives.

If anything sounds familiar Id love to hear from you.

Thank you so much,
Grace
