Rev. Peter Labagh was ordained in 1796 and shortly there after in the winter of 1797 went as a missionary minister to serve the Salt River Congregation near Harrodsburg, in Mercer Co., KY. He had intended to remain, however after three months returned to New Jersey. Apparently when he left Kentucky he also left some personal possessions behind, including some books and possibly two pewter mugs with the touch mark of T BUSH on the interior of the base of the mug. The mug also had the initials
A.P, P.S. and J. V scratched into the exterior base along with July 23, 1797. The question is, of course, did this mug actually belong to Labagh or a different individual. His initials do not appear at all. Only the date might tie him to this mug, again supposidly a set of two and used as a communion mug in the Old Mud Church.
If anyone can help identify tie this mug to Labagh, I would love to hear from them.
Thank you
