Update. We now have a family tree @ Geni where we can all work there together plus share pics & all kinds of other things. I just uploaded a copy of Dr. Rene's Inventory of Estate plus posted he & Sarah's wills (under the event "death"). Please do search for your ancestor & if you find them let me know how to get from them to you so I can add/invite you. :)

I'm a decendent of John Bradley Lee & Amanda Rachel (Blankenship) LeForce. Perhaps you can help me on our site at http://theleforces.com.

All I have left to do is brige the gap from John Bradley Lee's dad Ranney LeForce, a second generation Frenchman, to his father. Was he Dr. Renald Rene LaForce?

Then we've got to bridge the gap between Dr. Renald Rene LaForce & France. Did he belong to the Delaforces or the Caumont La Forces?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the story of Dr. Rene LaForce. Now I'm trying to connect it with the first LeForce's in OK (John Bradley Lee LeForce). His dad's name was Ranney LeForce & it says he was a second-generation Frenchmen. But that's all I got...& I don't know who Ranney's wife was. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :-)

Hi Tony,
Yes I believe they were from Dickenson county. The Kisers also were from Va . The La Forces and the Kisers were always marrying each other. The Kisers came to this country from Germany to help fight in our war with England. The first
one was Charles Keyser and the name was later changed to Kiser.Mary's line is Rene Laforce,ReneJr., Monsieur,James, and Warren.
Sylvia

Sylvia, Thank you for responding. Yes, it was Mary Elizabeth LaForce. I remember her when I was very little and my grandmother (her daughter) took me to her funeral when I was a little over 4. I have found some very good information about the O'Quinns, Willoughby being her husband but not much on her side. Four of her children married Kisers and I was hoping that there might be a connection in VA. Thank you again. By the way, was she from Russell Co. or Dickenson Co.? I have them moving to Carter Co. TN. from Dante Va. which I believe is in Dickenson Co.
Tony Webb

Wow am I having a hard time here. LOL I have two sources, one is my mother's research and the other is a listing of Capt. Whitfield C Lefors basic family info in the Benton Co, Arkansas information.

Ok the oldest information I have is this.

Rene LaForce was born in France approx 1757 supposedly to a wealthy and influential family. He left France around age 20 to join up with Lafayette to fight in the Revolutionary War. This of course created bad feelings with his family and he couldn't continue living in France after the war. He then sailed again and settled somewhere in Virginia at first, then married a Miss Gillespie of an Irish descent (nothing known about her or her family). They had Samuel in 1785, in North Carolina. They had three other children, names and sexes unknown.

Rene's first wife Gillespie died, and he married a 2nd time, she died and Rene finally married a third time. 2nd and 3rd wives names unknown. I don't know if any children were created from the other two marriages.

Before 1788 Rene took his family to Kentucky. Their son Samuel moved around a lot. From Kentucky, to Illinois, to Missouri and I think he died Hopkins County, Texas.

Samuel changed the family name from LaForce to Lefors, not sure when. Samuel married Margery Montgomery (Irish descent) and had several children two of whom were Whitfield C mentioned above and John S.

John S. had Thomas Henry (my maternal GG-Grandfather). Thomas Henry had my G Grandmother Louana Lefors.

After Louana Lefors comes my maternal grandmother, mother and me.

I am looking for family information about Rene LaForce family from France. I typed up the additonal family information in hopes someone could find a link and go from there if they have further information going back before 1757. It is rumored that Rene also went by Raney.

I would appreciate any information that can be found. Thanks!!

Dear Mary Ann Rosas and Viola Bailey--just received your message. Always glad to hear from another "cousin". Are you also researching the Banzet line? I have more information on the Banzet side going back to Alsace Lorraine, France than I have on the La Force side in Virginia. I was fortunate to make contact with Andre Banzet in Ferrette, France, who sent me this family lineage back to 1600. Andre also sent me a list of Banzet descendants here in the US that he researched years ago. Looking forward to hearing from you. See other message sent directly from my email program a few minutes ago.

S. Burton
Judith is not mentioned in her fathers will, but she is one
of the heirs of her mother Sarah La Force who died in 1757
in Goochland Co. Virginia. We believe that she may have been born after her father died. She did not marry until after
or the same year her mother died. She did marry Robert Burton and they moved on down to the South

La Force/Burton/Binion families

Does anyone have any information about the connection of the La Force, Burton, Binion and Cocke families? I am doing research on Julia Zitella Cocke, whose mother was Mary Elizabeth Burton Binion. From correspondence with relatives of the Cocke family, I have found that the La Force and Binion families were connected through marriage. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
- Jennifer Beck

There is a branch of the La Force family that changed their name to Le Force due to the confussion with so many La Force families with all the same given names.
I used to correspond with a couple of them...Dan or Don. There is a GREEN surname connection with that side of the family.
I will have to find some info at home to pass on to you.
margaret
Linda: I know E.J. and Hetty Sutherland list Moncier Laforce as a son of Samuel in their "Descendants of John Counts of Glade Hollow" but I think they got it wrong. He is a son of Rene Jr. and Agnes Moseby Laforce of Goochland County, Va., according to "The Douglas Register," the parish register of St. James Northam Parish in Goochland County. See page 233 of "The Douglas Register" transcribed and edited by W. Mac. Jones (Richmond 1928): Under a section listing births:
"Rene Laforce & Agnes Moseby, a son named Monsire born July 21, 1768. Baptized March 23, 1769. Page 84" [of the original parish register kept by the Rev. William Douglas from 1750 to 1797. The register also lists four other children born to Rene and Agnes: Robert (b. Aug. 27, 1756), Ann (Aug. 14, 1758), Agnes (Nov. 10, 1760), Judith (Sept. 8, 1765).
I sent this info to E.J. and Hetty's son Bill so that he could correct Monsieur's parentage in Vol. II of the "John Counts" book. I believe Monsieur was a younger brother of Samuel, and that Samuel was born before 1750, when the Rev. Mr. Douglas began keeping the parish register (Samuel is not listed in the register). -- Lois

Linda,
I have been having trouble accessing Ancestry.
You have Moncier as the son of Samuel La Force.
This is incorrect. His parents were Renald Rene
La Force, Jr. and Agnes Moseby La Force.
He (Moncier) was b. July 21, 1768 in Goochland
Co, VA. This is documented in the Douglas Register.

My father, Howard Taft La Force, son of Samuel Jay
Elbert (Eb) La Force was b. RC 1908. He said
John Kiser was Edith's father. He knew her well-
said she was the tallest woman he ever met.

Elizabeth's father was Elijah and her mother Phoebe
Kiser La Force.

Do you have any pictures of Elijah? I have one of them, but do
not have a scanner at the moment. When I get one, I will
send it to you at your e-mail addy.

Louise La Force Roberson

Phebe LaForce & Ambrose Williams

I am looking for information on Phebe La Force. She was married to Ambrose Williams on January 1, 1878 in Kentland, Indiana. Phebe was the second wife of Ambrose who was my gg-grandfather. I am hoping to find descendants of Phebe Force who might have information on her husband, Ambrose.

Binion/Burton

I have been researching Binion/Burton branch of my family. William Binion m. Jane Elizabeth Burton 19 Nov 1784 Caswell County, NC. In trying to find out who Jane's parents might be, I'm confused. I've also found a source that names Robert Burton and Judith LaForce, daughter of Rene and Agnes. However, the dates don't match up. Then I found a reference to Rene and Sarah having a daughter, Judith m. Robert Burton. Rene's will does not mention a daughter, Judith. I am not able to sort it out. Any help would be appreciated.
