Hello, I'm the only child of Vaclav and Maria Kytlica. I am age 43, birthplace Endicott, NY. Am looking for other Kytlica family members to post on this board and establish a family history. I do have some family history information that I can share if anyone is interested. Please post and/or email me and we can begin an online reunion.
Thanks!

My father's name was Frank Kytlica and his mother's name was Elsie Kytlica. They both lived in Illinois. Elsie died July 1944. Frank was born July 17, 1931. That's all I know. I would appreciate any info you may have.
Thanks!

There are many Kytlica's in Nevada and Arizona, as well as in So. California. I'm certain that with such an unusual surname, there must be some relation.

I am undergoing treatment for breast cancer that was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago, so I will write more about my family as I am able. I am 43. So far as we know, there is no history of breast cancer in the Kytlica family other than me. But it's a good idea to follow up regularly, just in case.

I'm sorry to hear that you are ill. My mom had breast cancer at age 42. She is 66 now and doing great! Keep a positive attitude!

I am 36 and have lived in California all of my life. My dad was born in 1931 in Illinois and moved here when he was 13. His mother died when he was 13, and he moved here to live with his aunt and uncle. His aunt's name was Betty Kytlica Haupt. His mom, Elsie Kytlica Fredricks, also had a brother. His name was Tom, but changed his last name from Kytlica to Kaye. He also lived in Illinois and Arkansas. He died in 1980. I have heard of another brother of Elsie named Frank, he died in a hotel fire. I don't know when or where. That is about all I know. I am trying to find out more from Tom's wife who still lives in Arkansas. When my dad was very young his mom married a man with the last name of Fredricks. He made my dad use his last name. My dad used the name Fredricks for the rest of his life, so my maiden name was also Fredricks. My dad died on 1-1-99 at age 67.

Hi Teri, I can't tell you how encouraged I feel about your mom's success. I am close to her age at diagnosis and of course the first thing that comes to mind is that I won't survive. I am preparing for my first chemo on 9/11 after an additional surgery on 8/30 to clean up the tumor site of leftover precancerous cells. Thank you so much for sharing your story with me!

My dad is Vaclav Kytlica, age 75, he is one of 11 brothers and sisters raised in Brno, Czechoslovakia. He asked me to ask if you know whether your Kytlica clan originated from Czechoslovakia or Austria (occupying Czech. at one time). My dad emigrated from his country to South America and met my mom, Maria. They were married in Brazil in 1956 and I was born in 1958. I will name as many brothers and sisters as I can remember of his: Richard, Liba, Oliver, Petr, Paul, Vladimir. Can't recall the names of the others. A couple died while very young. My dad's mom was also named Maria. She and my grandfather divorced and he remarried and had one additional child, a girl. At the moment I can't remember my grandfather's first name (never met him). I have a piece of paper somewhere that has Kytlica family names on it, once I find it I will post them for you and trace it back as far as I can. My aunt Liba has been doing some work on Kytlica ancestry. We aren't in contact, but perhaps through my mom I could find out what information she may have.

Take care and thanks for responding.
Vera

I always remember growing up, my dad said we were Bohemian and German. Since I just started getting into the research I don't know very much. I'm hoping to find out more. My mom is traveling this fall and will be visiting my dad's aunt. She was married to my grandmother's brother and hopefully will have more info on names, dates and places. I'll let you know what I find out.

Take care,
Teri

Sorry, I did not learn to speak Czech, but I think you are saying hello from Moravia? My father was from there. His name was Vaclav Kytlica and he was born in 1927. Sadly, he died 2 years ago. My aunt (his older sister) is still living, her name is Libuse Kytlica Ghirni. My uncles Paul and Petr Kytlica live in Czechoslovakia. Do you think that you might be related to us? Please write back. Thank you.

Hello! I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but just in case, I thought I'd say hello. I read the poster before me say that their father was Vaclav, one of the many brothers and sisters from which my grandfather originated. My grandfather is Vladimir. I am the daughter of his son Vladimir II. My father was his second child and he also had several daughters with his wife, my grandmother, Zdenka.

I've met Petr once when I was younger. He visited So. Cal. for Christmas.

I'm 20 and living in Portland, OR. I also have a brother, Nic, who is 23 and lives nearby. We were from our father's second marriage, so there are also three other half siblings in the Kytlica line from Vladimir II's other two marriages. They Vladimir III, Ian, and Hanna and are all still in So. Cal. We span almost 20 years between the five of us (roughly 33 to 7)

Hi Kehli! I remember you, I was just a child myself when you were born. I remember your mom too. How is she doing? We are not really in contact with Vladimir and Zdena, my husband and I have a vacation home near where they live and I am planning to contact them in the future. I understand that Laly and Chris moved up there too? My dad is buried up in that area because he loved to fish (it's by Lake Isabella in CA). There was tension that developed when my dad (Vaclav) died between my mom and Vladimir. I try to stay out of it. I remember my aunt Zdena fondly and I really miss her. She's my godmother as well as my aunt.

How are you doing in Oregon? My son is 21 and his name is Doug. He loves the area where you are living. He's a muscian. Perhaps some day when he's up in the state of Oregon, he can visit. He has friends in Washington. He really only knows my husband's side of the family.

Marriage is difficult, I've been married 26 years and it was not easy. It's hard for children when there are blended families. I hope that you can keep in contact with your siblings because as you get older, it becomes more important. I was an only child and I really miss having brothers and sisters to talk to.

Sending love across the miles, so glad to see that you responded.
