In his will dated 19 Dec. 1837, Jacob Kytle made bequests to son Zachariah and daughters Harriett, Sally, Delila and Elizabeth. No wife was mentioned. He remarked "that when my other children not named in the will left me, they had their share of my estate" Does anyone have any documentation or references to documents which identify any of the other children?

Good to hear from you. Is one of your ancestors possibly his child?

In the past several years since I posted the original message, I have researched the Greenville County records and still have found no direct connection between my line and Jacob Kytle, but there is circumstantial evidence.

My ancestor is Clerenda Kytle who married John Ereckson. John and Clerenda moved to McMinn County Tennessee in the 1830s. I think that Clerenda very likely was a daughter of Jacob Kytle.

I believe the Jacob and Samuel Kettle listed on the 1830 cansus, Not Stated, Anderson, SC was a son and grandson of the Jacob Kytle listed in the 1830 census, Not Stated, Greenville, SC. I believe Samuel was the husband of Margaret Kettle (1805-1883) who later moved to Georgia Factory, Clarke, Ga. I know that Margaret lived in Sc in 1832 because her daughter Nancy was born in SC. Do you have any records of a Margaret Kettle with children Samuel Micajah, Elizabeth, John, Nancy, Mary, Sanford, Ellen, William, and Joel? Like I said, I think her husband was Samuel. Have you searched the land records in Anderson,SC courthouse?

Since he referred to "his other children have received their inheritance" in his will, he may have deeded them land prior to writting his will. You may want to look to see if their are any deeds from Jacob Kytle to Jacob Kytle(Kettle, Kittle) or Clarenda Kytle.

I am interested in this as well for the same reasons. I am a descendant of Samuel Micajah.

I have not searched the records of Anderson County SC. Sorry, but I have no info on Samuel and Margaret Kettle or their children.

If this is true you may well have found what I have been looking for, is there any evidence of this?

In my research I have found rumors/hints of a Jacob Kettle being Samuels father and possibly a Jacob Kytle being his Samuels Grandfather.

Samuel Kettle who was married to Margaret (Duncan) Kettle was my great great great grandfather, see the following tree:

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/2449055/family/pedigree

that is as far back as my father and I have been able to track back for sure.. as I stated Jacob being Samuel's father had only been rumor.

Samuel Kettle was not married to Margaret Duncan. Someone attached him to Margaret Duncan on a family tree but it is not correct. Margaret Duncan was married to James Delay, Jackson Co, Ga. Samuel Kettle was married to a Margaret but we do not know her maiden name.
