Re: Elizabeth Kyrwood, England
Firstly, apologies to Mark for not replying sooner, I don't think I was alerted to your message & only noticed it when I was informed of this later reply. Wonder if either of you have traced your origins back to England. I am not getting far with my Elizabeth Kyrwood, except to find that she died in 1841 in East Molesey, Surrey, so too early for me to find her birthplace on a census. I have no idea where the family originated. It is good to know there are some Kyrwoods out there, please let me know if you have any English ones. all the best, Hazel Essex, England

Re: Elizabeth Kyrwood, England
Hi --
How's this for a late reply?
The IGI shows lots of Kyrwoods/Kirwoods/Kerwoods, etc. in England -- several hundred in Herefordshire alone.
In an effort to reconstruct the background of my g-g-g-grandmother Mary Kyrwood, chr. 20 Oct 1793 at Burghill, Herefs., I sat down and collated all the IGI's Kyrwood events prior to 1850 that were extracted from Herefs. parish registers. I did not include those in Hereford city itself.
The oldest IGI Kyrwode event in Herefs. is in 1558 at Kynersley [Kinnersley] parish. Other 16th C. clusters were at Pembridge, Dilwyn, and Collington. By the 1600's there were Kyrwoods at Thornbury, Edvin Loach, Bromyard, Bishop's Frome, Eaton Bishop, Yarpole, Eardisland, Staunton on Arrow, Letton near Staunton on Wye, Edvin Ralph, Leominster, Yazor, Lucton, Canon Pyon, Monkland, and Monnington on Wye. By the 1700's, add Upton Bishop, Preston on Wye, Burghill, Brobury, Credenhill, Fownhope with Fawleye, Ganarew, King's Pyon, Weobley, Breinton, Avenbury, Much Marcle, Brinsop, Clehonger, Eardisley, Mordiford and Norton Canon. By the early 1800's add Pencoyd and Madley -- and at that point I quit.
Many of these parishes are adjacent -- if you map them, you can really see the clusters. Of all the parishes, the largest concentrations of Kyrwoods lived in and around Burghill/Credenhill vicinity, Collington, Letton, Canon Pyon, and Fownhope with Fawleye.
And that's just one county!! Good luck with your searches, and I'd love to hear from any Herefordshire Kyrwoods.
:-) Judy

Re: Elizabeth Kyrwood, England
I believe Richard Wesley Kyrwood was my Great-grandmother's Brother. Her name was Elizabeth Anne Kyrwood and she married William Henry Turner at her parent's home in Port Augusta, South Australia
Her brother Richard Wesley Kyrwood is listed as having married an Ealina Caroline (Caroline) Bertram at Teetulpa - a gold mining area in South Australia
The whole family moved to Broken Hill around 1889, and my grandmother Maude Turner was born there in 1890, and i believe the Kyrwood grandparents died there.
The whole family, Turners and Kyrwoods then moved to Western Australia between 1896 and 1899
I find conflicting evidence of Richard Wesley's marriage as there are children listed as being born in Kalgoorlie to both Caroline as well as Mary Anne. I do know that there was a court case in Broken Hill regarding the paternity of a child that Caroline had - my mother has the press cutting relating to this.
Any information you have would be useful and I may have further information of use to you.
