Hello Peter,
Just this minute received your reply to my query "is anyone out there". I am the wife of a man whose family ancestry has many "Kynes" in it. I happened to be working on my own family history, so I don't have time to tell you about your illustrious surname. Just to keep you interested, tho, and I hope this won't bother you, but the Irish name Kyne was originally Chaign and comes from France. I don't know if all the Chaigns were Huguenots, but the story is that they left France to survive several centuries ago and well.. If I go on,I'll be here until next week. So I'm going to sign off now, but I promise to get back to you.
I'll give you this info though and maybe you can do some research on your own. The Kynes landed in Galway and settled in a small town inland on a place that straddled two lakes, Lake Corrib and Lake Mask called Clonbur.Kyne is a popular name there. We visited there awhile back and met the nicest people. The parish priest loaned us the batismal record book and we found his relatives listed. Well, maybe I'm part Irish as I tend to go on and on. Send me your direct e-mail address rather than having to go through this website each time. Mine is
