Hi All
Does anyone have any info (other than the IGI) on Kynastons living in Wem in the eighteenth century?
My line seems to be Thomas b. abt. 1710, Edward, b. 1737,
Zacchariah b. 1766, John b. 1801. John moved to Whitchurch and then Tilstock.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has this family in their tree.
Seasons greetings to all
Alan Huxley

I have an Edward Kynaston (born London 1840), son of John who married one of my cousins. Edward had a daughter Alice in 1863 with his first wife Phoebe Sutherland. The second wife was my cousin Annette Levison (no issue) who had previously been married to William Somervell

I haven't so far found any of my Kynastons moving to London, but will bear this in mind and post again if I find any connection.

Hi

No, none of mine had a child Irene, BUT I haven't followed the late 19th and 20th century Kynastons in any detail, so there may still be a link somewhere. I will keep a note and let you know if I come across anything.

Best regards

Alan

Hi
There are rather a lot of Kynastons round Wem. I came to read your message as I have just found out I am related to them. I have Edward 1735 going backwards to Humphrey 1468(the highway man) who was the son of Lady Elizabeth Grey G grandaughter of Henry IV plantagenets. This particular branch of Kynastons Were all around the Loppington area and Wem. The link to me are via Mary 1762 GGGGG Grandmother!! These particular Kynaston then go back to the princes of Powys where there is a name change son of Griffith Vychan 1190 became Griffith Kynaston 1231 not sure why. An area we still need to sort out.
Have you got any further with your hunting if not I wish you well.

Hi
Thanks for the message. The earliest Kynaston that I think I have is Thomas, born abt. 1710, who married Martha Walborton at Wem 28.10.1734. I wouldn't like to guarantee that he really is mine, as I only have access to on-line data and don't have access to a fiche reader so can't checek the parish records from the areas which are not on-line. Have you established your links back to your Mary 1762? My earliest Mary was born 1771, daughter of Edward 1737, who was son of Thomas 1710.
My g-g-grandmother was Mary Kynaston (1826-1907) who married Samuel Huxley.
I would be pleased to exchange info and learnn more about the Kynastons in the 18th century.

In the manuscript of G. Morris on Ancient Salopian Families Vol. 2 (Fo. 404)
in the County Library of Shropshire in Shrewsbury (Written about 1835) is an account of the Kynaston line from Bleddyn ab Cynfyn, Prince of Powis, who was murdered about 1064. It commences on page 370.
From the Lopping ton parish records (bishop's transcripts), there did not appear to be a baptism of a Kynaston before early in the 17th century. My ancestor, Edward b. 4.6.1673, may have been the son of a father born earlier in that village, but I have mislaid my notes.
Henry Kynaston, b.1.4.1820, may have been the one that moved to Wem, but he could have been been there. He was my great grandfather. He had an ironmongery business.
My second cousin Norman Kynaston married Mary Ikin in 1936. Her mother, Henrietta, was daughter of Charles Henry Kynaston - who owned Wem Brewery.
Any information on Charles Henry K. and his forebears is what I seek.
I am happy to help with what information I have.
