I visited a church cemetary last week in Kylertown, Pa. I took pictures of the headstones of Kyler family members. If you are in this family, they should be posted by now for you to see. Most of the family is there.Leonard is the oldest, and the one the town is named after, and his sons and two of his daughters are there. Elizabeth Hoover, and Sarah Potter.

It would be helpful to say where the pictures are posted.

I attached the headstone pictures to each of the Kyler's separately, and then pictures of Kylertown to Leonard Kyler whom the town was named for. If you have relatives in the Kyler tree, such as Joseph Potter, who married Leonard's daughter, Sarah, or William Johnston, who also married a Kyler daughter, Elizabeth, their headstone pictures are posted on my tree as their marker as well. I can forward them to anyone who requests.

My husband & I visited Kylertown last year. It was smaller than we thought it would be. We asked at the local grocery store & the post office if anyone knew of any surviving Kyler's in town, but no one knew...or was willing to tell us.
We saw on line that there was a statue erected for Leonard Kyler in the town square, but it doesn't exist anymore, and no one there remembered it.
We went through the cemetery there and it was mostly Kyler's and people related through marriage. I posted the photos that I took on Find-a-grave, feel free to copy & post any of them.
I know that Centre County is the hub of at all! A lot of the family is still there! Some of the family came here to work in our steel mills. (which are all gone now) That is how they came to Beaver County, Pa.
how are you related?
My husband's mother was the daughter of Aaron Kyler, who was the son of David Kyler.

Thank you for your reply, I am just starting to create a family tree. Most of the side I know is in Ohio but in new york we have William kylar, My grandmas maiden name was Elizabeth Kylar although she has lived in kylertown and Altoona who has recently passed away ( I wish I picked her brain more) but she did say that after the town was settled mainly by German descent I guess, that there were some since that changed the spelling and spelled it kylar. I currently live in Allegheny and could possibly take a trip to kylertown I am working on verifying my info but the one thing im certain is that they settled in kylertown and named the town after their last name.

Hello,

I just recently started working on my family history and I would like to thank you for providing all the information on Kylertown and its founding family. Kylertown founder Leonard is my 3rd Great Uncle and his brother Jacob is my 3rd Great Grandfather

My family branch landed in Stephenson County Illinois when Jacob's son William moved his family to Northern Illinois sometime in 1863-1865.

Thanks again!
Robert
