Mary Ann Kyler (1809) wife of Frederick Shenefelt of Huntingdon, Pa.
I am trying to find the parents of Mary Ann Kyler b. 1809 who married my ancestor, Frederick Shenefelt. They lived in Huntingdon Co., Pa. Family records show her to be the daughter of Thomas Kyler and Elizabeth Schultz but apparently that information is wrong. I would appreciate any insight anyone has on this line or the Kylers of Huntingdon Co. Thanks Linda Hansen

Re: Mary Ann Kyler (1809) wife of Frederick Shenefelt of Huntingdon, Pa.
I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not: I have a Mary Ann Sparr, born 1820, died January 26, 1855. She married Jacob Kylor in April 1841; after his death in 1847, she remarried, this time to Christian Shinafelt, in 1849. They lived in woodbury township, in Huntingdon County.

Christian Shinafelt m. Mary Ann Sparr widow of Jacob Kylor.
Erick - Do you descend from Rebecca - d/o Jacob and Mary Ann Kylor? Christian was the first cousin of my ancestor Frederick Shenefelt - I am sure there is probably a connection between these Kylor/Kyler families. I did find out recently that Mary Ann and Christian did not marry until after the 1850 census - so the Nov. 1849 date is a little early. In the 1850 census, Mary was still shown as a "Kyler" and living with her three small children from Jacob Kyler.
Thanks for your help. Linda

Yes, I descend from Rebecca and her second husband, Mathew Flaig. She married him after her first husband, Blair Woodcock, was killed at Spotsylvania. My mother has done a lot of work on all the connected lines; I take care of the graveyard. If there's anything you're looking for, let me know and I'll see if I have it, or can get it. Have a great day!

Erick - Which cemetery do you take care of? I haven't been able to find out what happened to Christian Shinafelt or their two daughters Polly and Catherine after Mary Ann Sparr Kyler died - do you know? Thanks- Linda

Re: Christian Shinafelt m. Mary Ann Sparr widow of Jacob Kyler.
I take care of the Sparr Cemetery. Mary Ann (Sparr) (Kyler) Shinefelt is buried there (she was my ggg-grandmother; my ggg-grandfather was her first husband, Jacob Kyler). I have to check with my mother about Catherine Shinefelt and what happened to her. She's done a lot of work on all the nondirect lines. I can tell you for sure that Polly Ann never married, and she's buried next to her mother.

Re: Christian Shinafelt m. Mary Ann Sparr widow of Jacob Kyler.
Can you give the the birth & death date of Christian Shinafelt born c.a. 1813 and daughter Polly Ann Shinfelt who are buried in the Sparr cemetery? Do you know if Christian's 1st wife Susan (Daughenbaugh) who died in 1848 is buried in the Sparr cemetery? Also, do you know who raised your great grandmother Rebecca, Samuel, Jacob and half siblings Catherine and Polly after the death of their mother Mary Ann? Thanking you in advance...
