Albany -- Michael J. Kyea, 38, of West Sand Lake, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Albany from natural causes.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 19, 1968, son of Leonard and Gail (Green) Kyea.
Michael was a graduate of Beekmantown Central School. He attended Cortland State University.
Michael was a corrections officer for 17 years, currently working at Coxsackie.
Michael is survived by four loving daughters, who were the most important thing in his life, Jalyn, Kalli-Sue, Danielle and Emily, all living with him; his mother, Gail Kyea of Plattsburgh; one sister, Suzanne Kyea and Ricky Mahoney of Largo, Fla.; his aunts and uncles, Virginia Wray, Floyd Kyea, Gertrude Klubertanz, Paul and Carolyn Kyea, Marvin and Pam Kyea, Peggy Kyea and Marlene Kyea, James Green and Anne Green; and many cousins.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Leonard Kyea; and his younger brother, Jared Kyea.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with the reception at St. Mary's Church Parish Center, Tobin Hall.
Donations in Michael's memory may be made to Plattsburgh State Speech and Hearing Center, Plattsburgh State University.
