I recently received an excellent photo of a gravestone in Arbroath about one of the twigs on my family tree. Would like to make contact with anyone researching the family of George Soutar Kydd and his wife Mary Ann Cant. Among others there are three deceased children listed I would like to follow up on William Cant Kydd who died in 1970 , Florence jane Kydd who died in early 1990's and Helena Kydd who died in the past few years.

Other lines of this family have spelled surname in various forms including Kidd/Kyd/Kid

If anyone has any information about this family please contact me I have a wealth of information on ancestors and many of the other twigs on the tree.

Thanks Sheila

Hello Sheila,
Very interesting post! My descendant, David Ogilvee Stewart is buried right next to your Kydd kin. David is in an unmarked grave. He died in 1840 or 41. He was the chief of police in Arbroath. The God-parents of one of their sons was a Kydd. Have often wondered if perhaps they were related someway. David was born in Lintrathen, lived in Kiermuir and lived and died in Arbroath.
Would like to hear from you,
Joan

Hi Joan,

I dont really have any Stewarts in my chart. But my Kydd family did come from Kirriemuir in the same time frame as yours. From there and some ended up in Arbroath.

I've looked at your other posts and see that David O. Stewart's second wife was Mary Ann Sandieman. I've got one Sandieman marriage in my file but wrong time frame and area. You didn;t say which child had the Kydd name mentioned as god parents. That might give a clue as ususally the first name of the child would signify some sort of relationship.

Do you have any info on George Kyd, married to Ann Gibson. George died 15 Jun 1831. His Father was Henry Kyd and his Mother was Janet (Patterson) Kyd. I have access to a 1763 Scottish Bible belonging to John Gibson (Father of Ann Gibson), found in the Bible are two invitations to the funerals of Margaret Kyd (d. 21 Apr 1849) in Arbroath and George Kyd (d. 10 Jun 1850) in Arbroath. I am trying to tie the Kyd family and Gibson family to my own. My GGGrandmother was Mary (?)(either Kyd or Gibson). I have digital images of these invitations if you are interested.
Thank You
