I'd like to get in touch with anyone with information about Kyd or Kydd families who can trace their roots to Scotland.

My mother was Alice Josephine Kydd daughter of John Jackson Kydd and his wife Sara Pickup. John Kydd was from Scotland - I believe Abroath - he was a ships engineer and at one time worked for the White Star Line. He came to the USA - had two other children besides my mother = Isabel and William. John Kydd and his wife were killed in an automobile accident in Westchester County, NY Have tried to find info but unsuccessful so far

You might try getting in touch with the Kidd family message board. I do know that with my husband's family they are related to the Kydd family in Scotland however I am unsure as to how. I have only recently started tracing our family tree. His father has said that Kydd is the old spelling of his name. Try the message board with Kidd as I have seen several references to Scotland and several regarding Capt. Kidd.

My mother was a Kydd, her father William Kydd was from Kircaldy, Fife in Scotland. I am in the early days of research but will keep you posted.

My mothers father was John Jackson Kydd -- his father married Anne Jackson -- also was married to Anne Shand - the children from that marriage all had Shand as their middle name. My Mother had an uncle William -- who lived in London for a period.
|
My Grandfather was William Norman Kydd, his father was Charles Norman Kydd who I believe was a police officer in Fife, Scotland. William Norman Kydd married Edith Lillian Betton (my Grandmother)in 1931 in Rugeley, Staffordshire, England. William spent some time in Liverpool, but not sure about London.

I am afariad that our Williams are not the same -- my mothers uncle would have been William Shands Kydd -- her father John Jackson Kydd was from Abroath,Scotland -- was a ships engineer, worked for the White Star Line and after coming to the states worked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard -- maybe there is another connection.

I have a lot of material about Kyd/Kydd/Kidds in Scotland from about 1700 through about 1870. If you can trace your ancestors back that far, I might be able to hook you up to some distant ancestors.

My mothers uncle would have been William Shand Kydd - I still have found nothing about this family but if I do will check and see if there is any connection with your names. Thanks

How about David, Catherine Carra/Cara
My Couper family tree traced to Kidds/Kydds in Angus, Montrose, Scotland. Carra Kidd (or Cara Kydd -- I've seen it both ways) was my g-g-grandmother. She married James Aikenhead Couper (or Cooper -- also both ways) in the mid 1800's. Her parents were David and Catherine Proctor Kidd/Kydd. Ring any bells?
