Larry Thompson, Hello - my name is Laurie Kvistad. I am the granddaughter of Ole And Marie Kvistad in Bellingham Washington.. Ole had three more sons; Oscar,Clark and a baby Benjamin who is buried in Halstad, MN. My father is Leroy, he is so very interested in his family line, he has been working on a family interest book where he gets info. on all the relatives and their current events. He has some info. on the family tree also. Marie was Ingeborgs middle name. Ole was indentured out to the norwegian fishing fleet at a very young age. Russells information is correct. I believe that Ole changed his last name to cut ties with his fanily in norway. I will check that out with my dad. I may not have given you the correct names since I can not remember whose names you already have. They are Hetman, Robert, Oscar, Leroy and
Clark Kvistad. They were all born in Halstad and I have heard some pretty interesting stories about their adventure filled childhoods. I remember Ole better than Marie (Ingeborg), he had learned alot of the martial arts in his travels and still did flips and walked on his hands to entertain his grandkids. He was a quiet man who worked hard for his family, I remember him fondly. My father would love to talk to you if you want to, he does not have a computer. He could give you more information: also Clark lives in Bellingham also and would have information also. I never knew the name of my great granmother- thanks - would like to here back from you. I was just working on the Kvistad family sheet sent to me by Russell. I have been able to find the families in the 1801 and in the 1900 Census (online) Have not been able to locate any yet in the 1900 Census. Ilived on Camano Is. from '73-82, and was at WWU in '86-8. Talked much with Clark. My grandfather, Lorentz Pederson Kvistad was one of the first to leave Norway and in 1902 came to Halstad (homesteaded at Lark Park in 1871, coming to Halstad after death of first wife.). I was born on the Halstad farm in '36. You may e-mail me directly at
lthompson@mvtvwireless.com At this point all I know is that both families came from the same Kvistad farm on Inderoy. There is also a Kvistad farm southwest of Trondheim. We have Kvistads here from that area, whom I looked up right away to see if we were related (not so). I would love to correspond with any of your family.
