Larry:

OK will do as soon as I get the copies made. Sorry I haven't responded before now but I've had so many things going on. Will get the tree to you soon.

Don't know if I ever told you but Ole Kvistad homesteaded in Halstead, MN right close to the Red River. His wife (my Grandmother) was also a Norwegian imigrant. Talk with you later

Sincerely,
Russell

The farm name was the third name - Ole Hanson Saxhaug. His son, Anders Olsen Saxhaug moved to the Kvistad farm after 1866, thus changing his name to Anders Kvistad. Thanks for the family tree.

You asked about being related to Leroy, Clark and their brothers. My grandfather, Lorentz W. Pederson (1847-1927)was born on the same Inderoy farm as your grandfather, Ole. On the 1865 Census (www.digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/)for Nord Trondelag, Inderoen Parish, Lorentz and his mother and siblings are on the nearby Skogseth farm. Lorentz came to Am. in 1866. He moved to Halstad, MN in 1901. Ole, being a Kvistad, came to Lorentz's place, and lived for a while in the Halstad area. I have the Halstad Centennial book and can copy the Kvistad photos and biographies from that if you wil send me an address.

I just found the forum about Kvistads/Pedersons in Halstead; Laurie Kvistad Gentry is my sister; LeRoy N. Kvistad is our father; Ole Kvistad is our grandfather. Was wondering if your offer to send copies of photos and bios re the Kvistads in the Halstad Centennial book is still available! We were there this past July for the school reunion; would dearly love to find a copy to buy...I will reimburse you for postage/expenses for any copies you can send. My mailing adress is 2600 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225. Ole did not have any siblings, except maybe 1/2s--I am trying to find his father Johan Lorentsson b 1862 Trondhjem--he immigrated in 1883 -listed on Trondheim lists-he may have changed his name as some scandal was possible...Ole never knew his father. Just asking!! Joanna Kvistad Wilson

My name is Kevin Questad. I am related to the Kvistads from Inderoy. (And Larry Thompson :)) I have done extensive research into the Kvistads and can help anyone still looking into their roots, for any of the Inderoy area. For the people in question: Ole Andreas Kvistad, son of Johan Lorentsen and Margrete Olsdatter, yes, they are related to the Kvistads, but in a roundabout way. You need to follow the Sakshaug family back to Hans Larsen Sakshaug. His son Lars Hansen purchased the Kvistad farm in 1719. Any help needed I am willing to help, plus I would love to be in contact with more relatives!
