Surnames: Qvaale, Kvale, Kvaalesmo, Stene, Jamtgaard, Buum
Hi all,
I posted some info a few months ago that can be updated now thanks to the work of Tonya.
Here it is, if anyone has anything to add, please email!

Lars Olson Kvaalesmo b. 10/22/1812, Orkedalen, Norway died 1885
Married Anne (?) (b.August, 1814 died 1855).
Their children:

1. Karen, daughter, b. 12/23/1835.
Died in childhood.

Ole, Eli, Olave and Gertrude all came to Union County, South Dakota, to establish their homes.

2. Ole, son, b.12/22/1842 died 1912
Married Marit Knudts-datter Ofstad (1850- 1942)
Their four sons:
Lars, Knute, Peder, Ole Jr. and two daughters; Anne and Marie

3. Eli, daughter, b. 2/14/1846 died 4/21/1931(?)
Her husband Ole Stene, died 3/14/1897
Eli married Ole Stene 7/28/1872 (these are my direct ancestors). They had thirteen children. Ingeborg, Inga, Marie, twins Kristian and Marie, and Elius all died in their childhood.
Inga Louise, John, Louis, Ole, Karen, Marie and Olina and lived to adulthood.

4. Gertrude, daughter, b. 3/20/1849 died 07/06/1914
Her husband, John Buum, died 5/14/1920
Gertrude remained in Norway and married Joe Buum (we now know it was John Buum Sr.) and lived in Ordekalen. They had nine sons: Johan, Lars, Bernt, Rasmus, Martin, Jon, Lars II, Christian and Ole and one daughter: Marie who died at ten months.
They eventually immigrated to America as well

5. Olava, daughter, b. 2/10/1853, died 6/20/1930
Her husband Johan Jamtgaard, died 7/29/1935
They had four sons: Ludvig, Ole, Peter and Lewis. And seven daughters: Betsey, Sophie, Louse, Olina, Karen, Lilie and Josie.
