HERMITAGE, PA. – Mary M. Jagatich, 93, of John XXIII Home, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.
She was born in Sharon, Pa. on April 26, 1919, a daughter of Michael S. and Agnes M. (Markusic) Kuzel.
Mary served our country proudly during World War II with the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and was stationed in Tucson, Arizona before her honorable discharge in 1943. Following her discharge, Mary went on to marry her sweetheart, Maj. Ferdinand S. Jagatich on Oct. 10, 1943, at St. Anthony’s Church and together they would share more than 64 years of marriage and their four children, Carl, Cynthia, Celeste, and Paula.
Mrs. Jagatich enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and feeding the wild animals that visited her family’s home.
She leaves behind her son, Carl Jagatich of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; three daughters, Dr. Cynthia Simpson of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, Celeste Mathieson and her husband, Thomas of Grove City, Pa., and Paula Riley and her husband, David of Galloway; her sister, Helen Bralich of Farrell, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 23, 2008; four brothers, Michael, Anthony, Frank and Joseph Kuzel; and four sisters, Bertha Rudar, Ann Carine, Kay Lawrence, and Dorothy Fox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel, 6923 Warren-Sharon Road, Brookfield, OH.
Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the start of the services on Wednesday.
Entombment will take place at Crown Hill Mausoleum, where full military honors will be observed.
