My GGgrandparents were Heinrich Martin (Henry)KUSCHEL (b. c1839) and Justine Wilhelmine Augusta (known as Augusta) (nee MILLER) KUSCHEL. They had 6 children: Bertha (my Ggrandmother, married to Herman PAPKE), Augusta, Mary, Hulda, Herman(n) and Rose. They arrived from Pomerania (POD: Bremen) on the Habsburg on 13 Apr 1886 and settled in Rochester, NY, USA.

Any connections out there?

Herman(n) KUSCHEL eventually moved to Buffalo, New York around the turn of the century but I have been unable so far to establish a connection there.

My Grandfather is Joseph who came from Berlin and/or Ullens Dorf (spelling?) Germany in 1866. They settled in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Do you think there is a connection?

Bill, I don't see a connection at this time. However, it would be interesting to compare notes further. My KUSCHELs came from Vischow, Pomerania in 1886 and settled in Rochester NY. My GGgrandparents KUSCHEL are both buried in Mt Hope Cem in Rochester NY. Henry died in 1910, Augusta in 1898. There were 5 daughters and 1 son in the family. One of the daughters, Bertha KUSCHEL married my Ggrandfather, Herman PAPKE. Another of the daughters married into another branch of our family. The son, Herman KUSCHEL, eventually settled in Buffalo NY c 1900 or later. What happened to his descendants is a mystery. Although I do know that several of my ancestors surnames ended up in Michigan and Wisconsin. We cannot thus far make the connection there, though.
