Searching for Kus Ancesters

Posted: 7 Aug 2001 8:00PM GMT
Surnames: Kus
I am searching for any information for a Frank Kus born 1881 died 1943. He married Anna Yiranek born 1884 died 1981. They had 5 children: Frank, Charlie, Otto, Emil and Anna. Their son Emil Kus (who married Mary Ann Hornak) is my husband's Grandfather. I know that they migrated to United States and settled in St. Johns, Michigan. They are originally from the Austria/Czech area. Any information in regards to this family would be greatly appreciated.

I too am searching for history on the Kus family. My grandparents (Kus) died when they were very young in 1929 and 30. Their names were John and Martha. Do you have any information that I can relate to?

Hi Pamela, I thought we had a match but our grandmothers names are different. My grandmother was Josephine (Fedorscak) Kus who died at the age of 43 of TB. Her fathers name was Pete. My grandfather, John Kus, died the year after in 1930, he was murdered! They were both born in Poland. They had 3 sons. The youngest, Bruno, is my dad. My dad and his brothers were born in Trenton NJ but were raised in Bay Way, Elizabeth, NJ. If any of this rings a bell please email me. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your response in reference to my search--I know that all of this is just circumstantial, but I guess I might as well make sure we are not missing something.

I am at work right now and don't have the death certificate with me, but I thought that my grandfather died in 1930 here in the Detroit, MI area. Where did your grandfather die? I have never known ANY of my relatives from my grandfather's side of the family and that in itself seems a bit odd. I knew of family from my grandmother's side (Martha) but not even one relative from my grandfather's. My mother's middle inital is "J" which she says is for Joan.

Is there any slight possibility, that somehow as far fetched as it may sound, that John Kus had two wives?

None of those name (of the brothers) sounded familiar. My grandfather is buried in Mt. Olivet Cenetary in Michigan. what do you think--any connection?

Mt. Olivet Cemetary is in Saginaw County. You can check out http://www.interment.net/data/us/mi/saginaw/olivet/mtolivet....

My Kus family are from the Owosso, St. Johns area not far from there so we could have connections. I know my husband's grandfather had the following siblings: Frank, Charlie, Otto, Anna and his name was Emil. Born between 1915 - 1925. His father was Frank Kus born in 1881 but i am not sure where. I have spoke to my husband's grandmother and she doesn't know much on that side of the family. I will keep your name on my list in case I find anything else out.... Good Luck...

Dear Pamela,
Unfortunately I think we have to keep searching. My grandfather, John Kus, is buried in NJ. As far as I know I have no relatives in the Detroit area. There seems to be a lot of people with the name "Kus" in that area. Good luck and if anything comes up that might interest you I will post it. Thanks again.
Have a great day!
Josephine
