John and Martha Kus/Kuss/Kusz?
It has been at least 12 years now and I am no closer at locating information on my grandfather than I was back then.
John's grave said that he was born in 1899 and died in 1929--only 30 years old. Martha's grave shows she was born in 1900 and died 6 months after John in 1930--only 30 years old. Death certificate on John says he was born in Germany/Poland? Says mother's maiden name was Rose Karaska.
They are buried in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan
I was told (don't know how reliable it was), but that my great-grandfather's name was also John.
I am beginning to wonder if he didn't come straight to Detroit before marrying my Grandmother...There is probably about 7 years or so that he could be living in another state. I don't show him coming over from Europe--he would have been a young boy--and I heard he had to lie about his age because you had to be a certain age to go by yourself, so I guess his father dropped him off at the ship...Remember, he only lived for 30 years. He had 3 children, Ralph, Erving, Delphine in Michigan.
What can I try next? Please help!

Re: John and Martha Kus/Kuss/Kusz?
I can't believe that someone answered my query! Anything you can teach me would be so much help...Thank you so, so much! I haven't even opened the maps yet but just hearing the background history between the Poland/Germany connection is so interesting to me...
As for my mother's and her siblings birth certificates...I don't have a clue where they would have been baptized. My mom was very secretive of both her family and my fathers. When my mom passed away, she said with me goes all my secrets...whatever that meant. I just want to know who I am a part of..
How would I go about finding Baptismal Certificates if I don't know what Church they were baptized in? I now that they at one time lived in Hamtramck, Detroit, Wayne County, MI. I can not even find a marriage certificate for my grandparents (but I have very old pictures).
Thank you again for your reply it means so much to me.

Re: John and Martha Kus/Kuss/Kusz?
You're welcome Pamela. I will try to help as much as I can. Please do throw a wider net especially go on Poland's Ancestry and Genforum board and Michigan's board. I don't have a paid subscription to Ancestry so can not help in locating documents but certainly can take a look at them for a second opinion.
Your mother's SS-5Form [social security numbers should have her place of birth and parents names. You did not inherit any of your parents documents especially church marriage record or state marriage application? Zlatica

Re: John and Martha Kus/Kuss/Kusz?
I know this is going to sound stupid, but what does it mean when you say go to a "Board". I really am not well versed on Ancentry.com and am just now really trying to learn all its capabilities.
I did not inherit any of my mothers papers. Where do I find a SS-5Form? Is that something on Ancestry and when I find the numbers, what do I do with them?
Is there a place that has ALL Catholic wedding marriage records because I can't find any in Ancestry.com under my mom's name or fathers?
Thank you again!
