Polish?

My grandfather (Martin Kus) came from southwestern Poland at the turn of the century. He came originally to Chicago and settled in NW Indiana to work for Standard Oil (later AMOCO and now BP-Amoco). He spoke both fluent Polish and German, so the ancestry is questionable but, per my father, is Polish in origin. My father and most of his siblings spoke Polish until he was in the 3rd grade. He attended a Polish Catholic school by the name of St. Adalberts (patron saint of Poland). His mothers maiden name was Ozug or Ozog. The largest concentration of Kus's is in the Chicago area. Kus is generally considered a Polish surname in the Chicago area, but that part of Europe was contested by Poland, Germany and Austria and was one of the reasons that Hitler invaded Poland in the '30's. I would have to ask my sole surviving uncle about where the name is most common (it is most concentrated in a village in southwestern Poland) but I don't know if I can come up with many answers.

My maiden name is Ozug. My grandparents emigrated from Poland in the early 1900's, but not sure where, specifically. Their names were Katherine & Charles. They settled in Fall River, MA where they raised their children: John, Matthew (known as Mitty) Jane, Joseph, Stanley, and their niece, Violet. They lived well into their 90's. We were never aware of any relatives in the US, but, perhaps that's not the case. Would love to hear from any other Ozugs....

Jack, I am looking for any information on John Kus-Kuss-Kusz from Poland. That is the name of both my grandfather and greatfather both born in Poland. I heard that my grandfather came by himself to America and he had to lie about his age or he couldn't travel alone. Do you know what the minimum age was for someone to travel to America alone? My grandfather was born in 1899 and died in 1929. His first name could have been something besides John, like Jan. Please any help would be appreciated.

My last name (Ozug) is the same and my grand father is from Poland. He lives in north west Indiana but I don't know much. He was in World War 2 and is still living today.
