John Kunch, born 1889 Scranton, PA
The KUNCH family I'm researching is:
John KUNCH, born June 26, 1889 Scranton, PA. He died: Sept. 25, 1955 in Barnesboro, Cambria Co., PA
John KUNCH (b. 1889) is the son of : John and Ann (FEDDER/FEDAR) KUNCH; he had one sister: Anna KUNCH, who married John CIFRAK.
John Kunch (b. 1889) married: Mary HOMADY/ HAMADY/ HAMIDAY in Cambria Co., PA in 1920. They had 11 children; 2 of them died young. I was married to their youngest child: George KUNCH (1938-1981)
So far I have found them in the 1920 and 1930 Federal Census in Cambria Co., PA. I have a copy of John KUNCH's Social Security application. John & Mary's death certificates; and pictures of their tombstones.
I have not been able to find John KUNCH (b. 1889) or his sister in a census before 1920. According to the census: Anna (KUNCH) CIFRAK was born in Austria and the family came to US in 1887.
I have found other KUNCH families in Eastern PA before 1920; but, have been unable to connect them to my research. There are other KUNCH families in Ohio and Iowa in the census, etc. with no apparent connection.
It would be great to hear from others researching this rare name; and be able to make a connection, or just compare notes. Shirley Osewalt

Re: John Kunch, born 1889 Scranton, PA
Hi Shirley, You contacted me back in August about my Kunch family. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you! My great-grandmother was Susan Kunch and she married Michael Klimchak. Susan had a brother named Michael also. They came from Austria and settled in Eastern PA (Plymouth). Susan and Michael married in 1899. So far I don't see any connections with your family, but with such an unusal name, you would think there would be a connection somewhere.
Also, I am fine with you putting my Kunch information on your family tree, but why did you put my Popielarski/Wayda information on there? Do you see a connection there too? I see that you changed Genevieve's parents' names though.
Looking forward to your response! Jill

Re: John Kunch, born 1889 Scranton, PA
Hi Jill,
It's great to hear from you. I'm assuming your brother & my son's DNA match is the Kunch line; but, I don't know if we will ever find anything to prove it. I'm glad you are OK with your info in the "separate" tree I have for "Kunch Families". It is my effort to put the Kunch info in one spot & maybe someday someone will help us add to it and/or connect. I'd be happy to send you an invite to join that tree & you can add or fix info. Shirley

Re: John Kunch, born 1889 Scranton, PA
Jill,
Sorry I got those parents wrong-I don't remember where I got them-so I removed them. On the Wayda name- there is a Wayda from Hazeltown, PA that married a Foder- a name that sounds sort of like "Fedder". There are so many with the same names like Mike, John & George Kunch-- I feel I need to add some family to them.
