YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Jean S. Hagen, 89, died peacefully Feb. 1, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.

Mrs. Hagen was born May 6, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of William and Bertha Schreiber Kulow.

She was a 1941 graduate of The Rayen School, Youngstown, Ohio.
Mrs. Hagen worked as a cafeteria manager for Boardman Schools.

Jean was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and formerly the Martin Lutheran Church.
She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Columbiana Chapter No. 428, School Employees Retiree’s Chapter No. 19, and the Saxon Club.
She enjoyed traveling, card clubs, and family.

She is survived by her husband, Howard, whom she married Sept. 17, 1949; a son, William (Ginger) Hagen of Bernardsville, N.J.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Begeo; four sisters, Pauline Kermit, Helen Wright, Eleanor Gillette, and Lucille Johnson; and three brothers, Harold, Alfred, and Bill Kulow.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home (new location), 8536 Market St., Boardman, Ohio.

Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service.

The family requests all gifts take the form of contributions to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
