Anyone ever heard of Henry "Heinne" Kulage of St. Louis who had something to do with bringing baseball to the city? There was a ballpark, Kulage Park, in St. Louis. Anyone familiar with this? or with him and his family? He is my ggf. Thanks, Melissa

Henry Kulage was my grandfather. He was a blacksmith in Baden and later in life he owned a bowling alley. As for the park - there was a Kulage park but I am not sure how he was connected to that. Baseball??? no clue. My father is 93 and still sharp. I will talk to him about this and let you know what I find out.

Rich, Are you related to the Kulage's that have Kulage Tavern on Broadway in Baden? My great grandfather was not a blacksmith nor did he own a bowling alley. What is your fathers name? Pleae ask him about my Henry Kulage who had the baseball team and the park.

The bar was originally owned by my uncle "Hap" Henry Christian. His sons Henry and Francis run the bar now. My day was born 1908. His name is Anthony Christian "Mog". The oldest was Sister Mary Frances (1903- ). "Red" Alphonse Joseph (1905-1991) Then Margaret Frances (Sister Marge M.M.) (1907- ). Then my dad in 1908 - Then Urban Theodore "Slim" (1910-1952). Cunigunda Emma "Sis" was born in 1912 and died 1987.Henry Christian "Hap" owned the bar (1913-1989). Esther Clotilla (1916-1918). Last was Joseph Oscar (1919 - ) I haven't talked with my dad yet but will let you know when I find anything about the park.

Melissa;
I was glad to see your message. My great-grandmother, Elizabeth, was married to Otto Kulage before he died. Otto is Henry's father (we'd be "half" cousins). Elizabeth married my great-grandfather(Carl) after Otto died. I have lots of Kulage info you might be interested in, goes way back. I have two photos of Elizabeth (your g, g, g, g? grandmother, possibly of Henry but we don't know exactly which one he is) I'd enjoy hearing from you.

Henry Kulage, Kulage Park.

Greetings from the future (since this thread is 10 years old). I'm writing a thesis paper for my MA degree and was wondering if anybody has any information on this individual and/or park they'd like to share.

First, I don't know how to use these message boards well, so you can contact me personally at denmarsh64 @ aol.com

I'm afraid I don't have a lot of info on Henry other than he was my grandpas half-brother. As I was told, but have never found anything to confirm it, he and his brother owned the park that was occupied by the St. Louis Browns. He supposedly received a watch for his help in bringing baseball to St. Louis, but it's been so long, I have no idea who told me that, but that particular person had the watch
