Looking for one hop back in my tree.

Great Grandfather - Joseph "George" Kula b 1859 in Poland (1910 census says he came over around 1885), wife Amelia (aka Millie/Aneila/Nellie) Pieklo b. 1887 came over in 1905. Were married in NJ in 1909, kids were Joseph, Sophie, Frank and John all born in NJ. Were in Bayonne, NJ, USA in 1940 Census.

Birth places on early census for both of them say Austria/Poland.

According to 1910 Census this was Joseph's second wife so I'm looking for the first one as well. Not sure if he was married in US or Austria/Poland.

I am trying to trace my late husband's family line.
His name was Robert Joseph Kula (Mar. 3, 1938 to Nov. 19, 2011) born in Bad Axe, MI
his father was Albert Valentine Kula ( 1911-1973) he was born in Port Austin, MI
his father was Joseph J. Kula, Sr. (1887-1958) he was also born in Port Austin, MI
his father was Valentine (Wolenty) Kula (1845-1922) he was born in Poland and arrived in Detroit in 1878, already married to Julianna Mroczkowki. I think the family is from Leki Gorne/Leki Dolne,
Poland. He may possibly be the son of Stanislaus Kula and Marianna Koziot. I am looking to confirm the town in Poland and to see if he is actually the son of the couple I just mentioned. I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks.

I'm familiar with the Kula line (see my tree). I think the Stanislaus Kula you are referring to was born Apr 1810. I haven't traced this line down but I've been told by other sources a number of Kula's did make their way to the mid-west, I don't have specifics.

The town is spot on. Also if you look into LDS records (and possibly here) a lot of those records have been scanned in (it's rare for that).

Check http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sandlier/marge/galus... the galus lines ties into the kula line and Marge has a lot of info.

I also have DNA mappings on 23andme which could help confirm we are related.

If you are related I'd be more than happy to fill out the tree down that line.

John, thank you so much for this valuable information, I was beginning to feel like I was pounding my head up against the wall trying to find the connection in Poland.
