Researching the surname Kukes. My grandmother was Amelia Kukes who married Henry Brestar. I do know that Amelia's parents were Conrad and Mary Kukes. I believe my grandmother had five brothers, Phillip, Henry, John, Pete and Conrad and one sister Anna. I would appreciate any information or help you might be able to offer. Thanks in advance.

My grandfather was Phillip Kukes, I think you probably know more about his family than I do, but very interested in learning. They had four children, Leo (my dad) Louis, Willbert and Dorothy. Have always been curious about the family history. I know Phippip was born in Russia and so was his wife, my grandmother. I was wondering if they had changed there name when they got to Ellis Iland. It's all those questions we should of asked when they were still alive. Probably couldn't help you out because I know so little. Sincerely, Luanne

Has anyone ever heard of Andras KUKES, lived in Woodbridge, NJ about 1909? According to Ellis Island records, my grandfather, Andras MESZAR came to visit his friend Andras KUKES. Andras MESZAR was from Nagydobrony, Hungary, which is now in the Ukraine USSR. Andrew Meszar settled near Pittsburgh in McKeesport, PA. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,

I don't know if you've received any info on the Kukes clan, but I believe I'm a direct descendant of Phillip. He is my grandfather's father.

Hi Luann!
It's Shelly, Allen's daughter. I'm so curious about our history too. I hope we can collectively fill in the blanks for some folk. I'm probably the least informed yet very curious now.

My grandmother was Johanna Kukes. She was married to John Kukes. They came over from Russia in the early 1900's. I know my grandmother was born in 1903. They came to Canada then went to Billings Montana and eventually ended up in Washington State where they settled down and had a family. All of the kids that are still alive live in Washington state. I am interested in my grandmothers family who lived in Billings Montana. They were Hofferbers. I don't know much about them but I know I used to have atleast one or two great aunts who lived there.
