I recently found out that a distant relative of mine started to use the surname Kujansuu in 1853. Later him (Erik) and his wife Sara Stina Gransten changed their name to Ylinen. If anyone has any information on this family I would love to hear from you. Thank you.

I have a relative named Edla Kujansuu. She was born on August 15, 1884 in Finland and died on December 22, 1961 in St. Louis County, Minnesota. Edla married Nicolai Kujala. Nicolai was born on November 1, 1877 in Karvia Finland and died on July 30, 1936 in Little Swan, St. Louis County, Minnesota.

Nicolai's parents were Bartii Mikonp Kujala born on August 23, 1845 in Karvia, Finland, and Justina Davidant Tuomainpr born on May 30, 1850 in Karvia Finland.

Nikolai's siblings were sisters Elizabeth Berndtint Kujala, Lydia Marie Kujala, Katarina Kujala, and Esteri Kujala. I have been unable to locate any information on Elizabeth who was born on 01-31-1876 in Karvia, Finland.

Lydia and Katarina both came to the U.S., and both married after they arrived. Lydia married John Koski. She was born on February 14, 1881 in Karvia Finland and died on May 15, 1968 in St. Louis County, MN.

Katarina was born on May 08, 1884 in Karvia, Finland, and married Oscar Maki here in Minnesota. She died on December 13, 1939 in St. louis County.

Esteri was born on May 03, 1888 in Karvia, and moved to the U.S., in 1907, but I've been unable to find any information on her. She may possibly have been living in a boarding house in Nashwauk, Itasca County, Minnesota in 1908. Itasca County borders St. Louis County, so if that was her, she lived only a few miles from her siblings.

Please advise if any of these sound like relatives. Thank you~!
